The most infamous bounty hunter

Advice

If you were going to make a character with the feel of Boba Fett from Star Wars, would you use an Inquisitor, Ranger, or something else and why? This does not mean that technology is that advanced or the character is in the Star Wars universe. The character, because of flavor/mechanics, just feels like Boba Fett.

Personally, Trophy hunter. Its an archetype of ranger that drops the wild empathy and hunters bond for improved tracking and a favored enemy supplement respectively. It also gets rid of the combat feats for grit feats or a gunslinger deed.

I've thought about this before and I would choose... alchemist. A half-orc alchemist to be specific. Why? Because Half-Orc alchemist has so many methods at his disposal to capture somebody alive.

Half-Orcs can become proficient with nets and whips, two weapons that are very good at prevent escape. In addition, alchemists have sticky bombs; all the awesome of the tanglefoot bag in a bomb that scales up the DC as you level.

In addition, they have access to one of the Fett man's signature pieces of technology: the rocket pack! Or the Flight discovery as the young kids call it these days. Wings or jet pack, either way you get to fly around the battlefield, shooting rockets at fools. Yes rockets! Another item that Boba Fett liked to throw around. Alchemist bombs work well as rockets or flame thrower attacks.

The only thing our Half-Orc bounty hunter is missing is a reliable method of tracking. Perhaps a level dip in ranger?

I am sure there is a trait that makes survival a class skill.

I'm disappointed. I was hoping for Samus Aran.

I mean, let's be honest here, Boba Fett is famous for.... having a cool outfit. Samus Aran is famous for being a force of nature.

Grand Lodge

Ranger and Inquisitor would be a mean combo. Truth be told even a fighter with that DR bonus thing could be hell on wheels properly built and played.

However a MAGICAL bounty hunter could be meanness in itself and spin off from the usual images of 'bounty hunter'.

weirdly enough, I would go with fighter.

He seems to be a well trained soldier with lots of good and balanced equipment. His intelligence should be above average (for a fighter).

Anyhow, a gunslinger might be just as well as he is no sword-wielding jedi.

@blue star, Boba Fett is more ruthless than Samus it seems to me, so she is perhaps the most famous, Boba Fett is probably the most infamous.

Boba Fett is cool looking and all but Dog the Bounty Hunter is where it is at my friend. Ok, if you want to make the most famous bounty hunter you need to go Bard.

You need to focus on physical stats to take down the bounty and charisma to talk the info out of the loved ones of the bounty.

As an added bonus you can take sing as your primary perform and whenever you start bard song you can start playing your theme song.

Ftr/Rog/Asn.

Primarily Fighter, 1/3 levels in Rogue until Assassin becomes available.

So you should play a gnome with a low Int, take Bard and then invest in some platform boots and a bad haircut?

For a bounty hunter I would go with an Inquisitor. A bounty hunter is going to need a decent amount of skills. Bluff, Disguise, Intimidate, Knowledge (Arcane, Dungeon, Nature, Planes and Religion), Perception, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Stealth and Survival are all going to needed. There are probably some others that you are going to need. The fact that you get a bonus on three of them as you level up huge. Take Improved Monster Lore and to get even more bonus skills.

The other abilities of the Inquisitor are also going to be very useful. Bane and Judgment of Justice is going to make you deadly vs. your target. at 5th level you will be adding +4 to hit and +2d6 damage to your attacks. True this is only once a day for a limited number of rounds but this is great for ambushes.

The spells are going to be useful and also fit with your theme. Magic is the fantasy equivalent to technology. The thing that stands out about Boba Fett is his gadgets. Spells and the other magical abilities translate pretty well and allow you to keep the feel of the character.

You also need to make sure you don't actually do ANYTHING during the campaign, but talk about the character as if he is the most bad dude in the entire realm.

Inquisitor = religious fanatic = Boba Fett ???

I don't get it?

Pre Lucas's retcon of the Star Wars universe, Fett was depicted as fanatical about bringing thieves and murderers to justice, a very final justice. His prior experience as a CorSec officer had disillusioned him to working withing formal circles however, and so he turned to bounty hunting. His only reason for disliking the Rebellion was that the Empire was the law, right or wrong.

I guess that's a long winded way of saying, I can see the fanatic part.

a Inquisitor like a Cleric can serve a philosophy or a cause instead of a Deity. I can easily see someone working for a lawful evil government being a Inquisitor. He would operate outside the very law he is upholding this sound like an Inquisitor to me.

The inquisitor has the right mix of skills combat and special abilities that fit better than any other class. The Ranger is close but a little too focused on nature. A Bard does not really fit as they focus too much on performance. The fighter has the combat capability but nothing else. A Rogue could work but they are such a lame class.

The Inquisitor has the flexibility to be a great bounty hunter. Ask yourself of all the classes you would want coming after you what would give you the most trouble. Overall the Inquisitor is going to be among the worst.

Awesome, and outside the box. Well done.
