Why are angels immune to petrification?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I never have really understood why this is the case with being immune to petrification. Because if you found an angel turned to stone giving the party some stone salve and freeing it could be an awesome adventure. Are there any real reasons for this immunitity that I am not seeing?

edit I know as the gm I can houserule this away am just curious about the reasoning.

Because... those that are, are weeping angels....

Because they're cool like that...

This is mostly a case of, "They're immune to petrification because they were in previous editions."

From a game rule standpoint, it's an unusual defense that isn't going to matter in most encounters but that helps to establish them as different than other similar creatures.

Suprisingly I have not heard of weeping angels before.

The same reason that most of them have Constant--Detect snares and pits but have a fly speed.
