Magic items vs. size

Rules Questions

Does magic items change size based on the size on the user/wearer?

We have a party where every member is human besides one, and i dont think we have any problem with sizebased items, but an argument we had last night got me thinking.

If we find an item that the gnome wants, but it is a large two-handed medium item. Can he lift and use it as long as it is magical?
We tried to find the answers in the good old book, but we found none.

The argument we had was based on;

"When an article of magic clothing or jewelry is discovered, most of the time size shouldn't be an issue. Many magic garments are made to be easily adjustable, or they adjust themselves magically to the wearer. Size should not keep characters of various kinds from using magic items."

Does this statement just concern magic clothing and jewelry, or does it state that magic items of any type should not exclude players of different sizes?

Another argument was that;

"Armor and Weapon Sizes: Armor and weapons that are found at random have a 30% chance of being Small (01–30), a 60% chance of being Medium (31–90), and a 10% chance of being any other size (91–100)."

If magical items would adjust themself acording to the size of the user, than why on earth would anyone make anything other than magical small items to use a minimum of raw material in the creation of the base-item. Why make a large +1 platemail with X worth of gold in steel, when you can make a small +1 platemail with x worth of gold instead.

Armor and weapons do not re-size themselves magically, as an exception to the general rule you posted about magic items.

Got a source i can check out? :)

Size and Magic Items

There may be rare exceptions, especially with race-specific items.

Armor and Weapon Sizes: Armor and weapons that are found at random have a 30% chance of being small (01–30), a 60% chance of being Medium (31–90), and a 10% chance of being any other size (91–100).

General rule about items being adjustable or magically doing so, then a line that says there may be exceptions, then a specific exception.
