BESM Pathfinder?

Scarab Sages

I was looking over the BESM D20 rules, and I was struck how adaptable they were. I was originally looking at them to replace putrid Palladium for a Robotech framework, but they'd work equally well for a Warhammer 40K-style RPG, or a Spelljammer setting.
1)Does anybody know whats going on with the BESM D20 license? My research says its out of production.
2)Would Paizo have any interest in buying the license and 'Pathfinderize-ing' it for a Pathfinder Modern/Supers/Future system? I'd love to see the old girl back in print, and I've got some respect for Paizo at this point, so I think they'd be a good fit.

Paizo is very much focusing on our own system, and we don't intend to be distracted from that anytime soon.

I've moved this thread to a forum that's more likely to attract an answer to your other question.

That's what third party publishers are for :) The Modern Path is there for all your modern Pathfinder needs.

Have I ever said I love you guys? Your tolerance of third party and fan works for Pathfinder is awesome, and it's why I chose you guys over 4E.

Silver Crusade

Strange.

I have a whole game of BESM d20 built to Pathfinder's updated philosophy with the 3.x rules. It's half written, because I wanted to play test it.

The game is a high tech fantasy set in 10,000 B.C. interestingly enough, it's the result of a labor of love that started when I first learned of Atlantis through cartoons when I was . . . younger than ten (4? Yeah, 4. Was introduced to Atlantis via Superfriends cartoons).

I'm an Atlanteologist, and I'm a darned good one. Atlantis is my setting, I know everything about Atlantis. In fact, I could probably write the book of Aztlan. But have no players to try it out. *pouts*

I'd love to try it out, but I just don't have the time.

Quixote--

The basic problem, as I understand, with any and all versions of BESM, is that Guardians of Order (the game company that made BESM) went under several years ago... I have no idea who you'd need to contact to find a way to revive the game officially and/or get a license to do new work with it.

Mind you, I haven't really tried BESM d20... but I really like BESM (2nd edition) and have messed around a little with Tri-Stat dX and BESM (3rd edition).

Although GoO sank, I understand that through other parties, all of their games are still available as PDFs from Drivethru RPGs.

I prefer the tri-stat versions, as they have inherently more flexibility.

Tri-stat versions are definitely the better choice. D20 was a big pie a lot of companies wanted a slice of, and while some succeeded in converting their systems into D20, others where not so fortunate.
I count BESM D20 as a marginal success.
I count Heavy Gear's D20 rules as a complete failure.

Shadow Lodge

I actually can't think of a single game with a different system that put out a d20 version where the d20 version was actually better.

Most of the time, d20 conversions loose that feeling that makes a game special. I used to be the "everything in d20" kinda person, but then I grew up and started trying other systems. Silhouette was the door I needed.
