Lycanthropy question

Rules Questions

i'm making a werewolf druid (gm is doing semi modification rules) and was wondering 1 question pertaining to equipment

when you change shape what happens to your gear?

as i remember but not 100% sure if you go into animal it gets absorbed into you like wild shape, and if hybrid it breaks if its too small i think.

is this correct?

and also would natural spell work in wolf form or only if i actually use wildshape for wolf form?

thanks

When you polymorph into an animal form, your gear melds into your body. The hybrid form is humanoid. edit: If the base animal is larger than you are, I think you can't change into hybrid form unless you take off restrictive items of gear.

Natural Spell works for wild shape only. A GM might allow an equivalent feat that applies to natural lycanthropes and races that receive Change Shape as a racial ability, or he might feel this ability should remain specific to druids.

kk and thanks for the reply :)

The PRD's Magic section says this in regards to Polymorph spells:

PRD wrote:
If your new form does not cause your equipment to meld into your form, the equipment resizes to match your new size.

Since that's under the Magic section, I'm not sure how it applies to lycanthropy. I'd personally rule it the same unless proven wrong in any case.

Hmm, true, I seem to have missed that and it's important in several contexts. All is well then. Change Shape is indeed a polymorph effect (that would follow from it functioning as a polymorph spell) so those rules apply.

I find these answers a bit disappointing honestly... PERSONALLY I love the mental image of the lycanthrope either throwing off their clothes before changing or Hulking through their clothes as they shift...

Druid shape is a different matter, that's more spell then curse...

Basically, as you say the DM is doing 'modifications', then this is the wrong place to ask. You really need to see what HE thinks it should be in HIS world.

Besides the 'cool factor' of shredded gear, having to worry about where your stuff is would make a decent balance to all the extra power your gonna get.

So you want your character to be naked every time they change back?

You could have just told us that in the first place :P

YEP!

If it's full on lycanthropy finding nice roomy clothes like poncho's and togas are mandatory :)

If it's just handwaved as yet another polymorpth... then it's not very special :(

Oh, no...don't tell me you aim to be the special snowflake of the group. Because unless the other players get cool and unusual stuff as well, then you might as well deserve just another boring polymorph instead of hogging the spotlight from the other players...

I might sound harsh, but I have no ill intentions.
