[LPJ Design] What compelling daily content are you NOT getting?

Product Discussion

I asked this over at our Facebook page and I wanted to expand the interest to over here also. So, what compelling daily content are you NOT getting from Pathfinder Roleplaying Game websites that you WOULD like to get? Anything goes just be truthful. Thanks!

Well, with the recent announcement that Dungeon a Day will be ending, very soon I won't be getting a daily encounter that builds an interesting and compelling mega-dungeon written by the best designers in the industry.

Interesting indepth look at various aspects of the game.

In a setting that doesn't lend itself to flamewars.

Maps: Wizards old map-a-week was one of my most used tools.

Encounters: Something I could easily drop into a random encounter table.

Really? I must have missed that ... can you provide a link please?

It's on the DaD boards. I didn't know until I read the above either. I had a clue this was coming but hadn't known it was made official. I've posted over there an offer I hope might be considered.

I've got a couple of free woodland encounters on my website. You can grab them here and here and some cave-based stuff here. I hope you find them useful!

It's true. The current dungeon is the last new content we have planned. The site will remain up until at least April, we've got some exclusive content for patrons, and we're extending the All-Genius Pass to all subscribers. We've had a good run, but in the end the numbers could not justify continuing the existing business model.

Now to stop hacking LPJ's thread, I'd love someone to produce a good trap or riddle, with game mechanics, every day. I've been collecting ones I like for years... and I never have enough.

Will the PDFs for the remaining levels of Dragon's Delve ever be completed?

This +a lot. Every time I want to try to add a good puzzle or riddle to a session I go on a massive search online that always ends up with the same old tired riddles and basically no good puzzles. I want game-oriented riddles or puzzles... hell I don't even care if there's a new one every day, just at least a few really good ones would be good enough for me.

The PDFs for Dragon's Delve are supposed to be completed, as well as having all of the supplementary material availible one way or another.

As for puzzles and riddles, have you checked out the puzzle and riddle books by Cloud Kingdom Games? I only have one, but it's chock full of good riddles (though some skew a bit towards modern references).

Well as a quick thread jack / connection to this post, I wonder if you could find a way that 3PP could submit material to cover a month at DungeonADay.com. Like Dungeon A Day Presents LPJ Design's Temple of Real Danger Thing, and it runs the month of March. Fans get new content and 3PP get more exposure and a chance to help each other out.

I apologize for continuing the thread-jack, but I have the following to say about Dungeon-A-Day, and there doesn't really seem to be a better place to put it at the moment (waits for someone to point to a better place approximately 2 minutes after I post this). As such, I'll hide it under a spoiler tag.

Spoiler:

I took a look at my DaD stuff. I'm assuming that the following stuff will come out soonish:

PDF Levels 18-20
PDF Tomb of Nibul
PDF Battle for Brindenford
JPEG Final Cross-Section Map (high-resolution)

Dunno if you'll do a PDF of the Bonus Encounters, if you do, great, if not, it wouldn't really bother me. There are also currently not high-resolution (or low-resolution) player maps of levels 13-15...if those were eventually created, that'd be great as well.

The stuff that I kinda doubt will be updated, but it would be great if it would is the PDFs for levels 1-5, Teregaunt's Tower, and the Legendary Island of Khorant. These PDFs were made before Super Genius became involved, and they don't really include some of the supplemental material needed to actual run the levels. My preferred solution would be for you guys to give the the full treatment, making the the equivalent of the PDFs put out after you guys took over, but I realize that's probably too much to expect. But hey, at least you can refer to this listing to know what supplementary material you do need to collect.

One final question...do you eventually plan to make similar PDF collections of the four smaller dungeons that were done after Dragon's Delve was completed?

Sorry that Dungeon-A-Day didn't really work out, it was fun while it lasted.

Now, back to the actual topic of the thread.

Maybe something like your Dangers and Discoveries book...throw out a daily curse or disease or trap or something of the like. Just a little small, simple mechanic that some people might find neat. In addition to the categories provided in that book, you could throw out some traits. Maybe on ambitious days a monster or an NPC. I guess what I'm saying is that a miscellany might appeal to a wider range of people than if you concretely dedicated yourself to having, for example, a new spell daily.

Although riddles and puzzles are a great idea too.

It isn't daily content, and I don't see anybody being able to do it. What I miss is the weekly adventures that WotC used to put out for free early in 3e. Actually, to make a daily thing, I miss all the different articles that USED to be a part of my daily visit to their site. Viscous Venues, Adventures, Cliff Hangers, etc. That was a buffet of DM goodies, and player stuff, that started to vanish just before 4e. Pathfinder doesn't really have much of that. Not in the amount that WotC used to put out.

I know about them. Was going to be their FIRST Beta tester. My plans fell thru with the group I was going to run, so I had to drop it.

So, Xorial makes a good point. What daily Pathfinder content is avilable right now? Especially free content? Id hate to be missing good stuff.

To open things, I know about the spell variants Owen Stephens does on twitter, under #Spelltweets. He usually does 2-3 day, and definitely averages more than 1/day.

Jon Brazer has started doing something similar under #Monstertweet with variant monsters. He doesn't seem as regular.

Super Genius Games Facebook page (www.facebook.com/supergeniusgames,) also does Microfeats, which are short feat ideas by Owen Stephens again, one every M-F.

Owen Stephenes also has a Google+ page (https://plus.google.com/u/0/101933517887238517736/posts) where he does some kind of Pathfinder item every weekday, under the pathfinder+ title.

Kobold Quarterly has some awesome free stuff on their website. Not daily, perhaps, but an important part of my reading weekly. (http://www.koboldquarterly.com/k/category/articles)

What else is out there?

I appreciate the mention. I normally do these every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but admittedly I've missed a few days. Mostly due to printing deadlines quickly looming. Hence why I haven't put out much in the way of PDF products lately either. But we're getting back on track with our #Monstertweet posts.

I appreciate the free rule content! So far I pretty much get it from you, SGG (a lot!) and KQ.

So, are there no other fairly regular, free, professional sources of Pathfinder 3pp goodness?

You might look at the thread for [i]Quid Novi.

Also, if you want more attention for a search for Free Professional Pathfinder-Compatible Material, you might want to start a new thread. :)

I only recently learned of Owen's microfeats, and spent a lil time backrolling through the Super Genius Facebook page collecting them all...now if only my phone and tweet got along, lol
