I'm thinking of playing a witch because they seem fun, flavorful, and good. What I want you guys to do is throw out maybe a couple of sentences for a character concept.
example:
An old swamp witch that believes in a mysterious prophecy. The earth must be wiped of all life to start again. A reincarnation of the earth itself.

I have yet to play a witch, but I have made characters for these 2-3 concepts to churn out as writing projects or future PCs:
1. Old ways witch who despises the more dynamic nature of modern magic. If it isn't spell-granting patrons, familiars and hexes, it isn't the old school. Everyone participating in the new school is polluting and prstituting magic and must therefore die from a Heightened Extended suffocation.
2. Decrepit gypsy on a revenge mission to curse a family of fortunate means after tragedy befalls his\her caravan. Whether she rightfully blames the family isn't that important.
3. Herald of Something Awful, who is granted spells and powers to deliver omens of his patron's arrival.

Sir Ophiuchus |

She was a young idealistic woman who used her inborn gifts to help her village, aiding in childbirth and offering healing in emergencies. When word got out about her powers, the authorities forcibly recruited her as a battlefield healer in the last war. With her healing hex ability, she was the most potent resource imaginable, able to save as many soldiers as they could drag her to. Needless to say, she was burned out by such treatment, physically, mentally, and magically.
Now she's on the run from her former "employers", trying to pull the shreds of her mind and her magic back together, and with one thing uppermost in her thoughts: She will not be used again.

I'm about to play a jamacian witch from my GMs homebrew setting (the krakengard isles).
I'm currently the crazy town coot and unassuming racial stereotype, but I'll be playing him behind the scenes over IM, building an army of thralls and zombies and being the scariest witch doctor this scrawny white boy can be.
