Spell Question

Rules Questions

I have a few questions about spells.

The energy descriptor of a spell such as burning hands would be "School: Evocation [Fire]" correct?

Would elemental spell (frost) change the energy descriptor of a fire spell? Or would it still be a fire spell but just do frost damage?

If someone used a heightened spell burning hands and made it a 2nd lv spell, it would take a 2nd lv slot and have an increased dc. But would there be any other effect to the heightened spell?

EDIT: One more slightly unrelated question, What type of action would it be to pull a metamagic rod from a efficient quiver? A move action?

I'm not sure what you are asking. Could you please put it in context of what is happening at the table so I can have a better idea of what your question is?

Ok, sorry if it's confusing. Nothing has actually happened yet, just in the process of planning out a character.

The draconic and primal elemental bloodlines give a +1 damage per die rolled if you cast a spell with an energy descriptor that matches your elemental/draconic bloodline’s energy type.

So first, I'm wondering where is the energy descriptor mentioned in a spell (such as burning hands)?

Secondly, can you change the energy descriptor of a spell? And if so, how?

Third, when you use heightened spell metamagic feat on a spell you can raise the spell lv, consuming a spell slot equal to the new spell lv. I'm just wondering if doing so would have any effect other than using a higher lv slot and raising the spell save dc.

Last, to draw an item from an efficient quiver is a move action, right?

Alright Now I know where to go:

1. It's right beside the school of magic. Typically it'll say something like Evocation[fire]

2. Yes there are a couple of ways. Some sorcerer bloodlines allow the changing of the energy type. Also the Admixture subschool for wizards allows it too. Finally there is a metamagic feat that allows you to either change the energy type completely or to all it to be half the original type and half of the type from the feat.

3. Not on its own. I mean sure it'll bypass things like globe of invulnerability easier, but that's about it.

Thank you for the answers.

2. The metamagic feat is elemental spell correct?

One idea I had is to get the draconic [frost] and primal elemental [fire] bloodlines. Both would give +1 damage per die rolled for spells with their energy descriptor (frost and fire respectively).

Then use the elemental spell metamagic on fireball so it would do both frost and fire damage. But the one thing I'm unsure about is, would it get the extra damage from both the draconic AND elemental bloodlines or only one of them?

It may not be optimal, but I thought was kind of cool.

Maybe a simpler way to put it would be, "Are damage type and energy descriptor the samething?".

I've not seen a spell or ability yet that changes the energy type but not the energy descriptor on the spell.

Alright simple enough, so changing the type of damage changes the descriptor as well. Thanks for your help.
