Can you use Illusion of Calm for concealed casting?

If I'm standing in the middle of the room, surrounded by people, could I cast illusion of calm (Ultimate Combat) to keep everyone from noticing my casting any further spells?

If not, why not? Isn't that the entire point of illusion of calm?

The intent is to protect you from the AoO from casting spells or moving. That is it. It is a first level spell that would be nice to use if you were surrounded so you don't have to cast on the defensive.

Seriously, RD...do you stay up nights just looking for cheese loopholes to exploit?

Then why does this spell exist? You would provoke just for casting it! Why wouldn't I just save myself a round and cast my originally intended spell?

And yes, yes I do.

EDIT: Well, not so much to exploit them. Finding them at all is the real fun.

It's minutes per level, so you would cast it before going into a combat. It would be great for an Eldritch Knight build, or any kind of caster who intends to wade into combat for one reason or another.

It's first level, so quickening it would be logical for any number of reasons.

It is only a first level spell, I don't think the intent extends beyond the described use.

So, as written, it is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to conceal spellcasting in Pathfinder?

I see that as something that needs to be fixed.

The way I read that spell, the flavor suggests to me that any actions you perform that don't involve a melee or ranged projectile weapon is glamered and hidden from view.

Perhaps, if you wield a melee weapon, it looks like the weapon is swinging around on its own, while you stand with your hands in your pocket? It seems any thing beyond the RAW for that spell is left up heavily to GM interpretation.

If you had still+silent you would just look zoned out for a few seconds and be fine afterward. Or if you used quicken, you'd avoid provoking. Or if you cast it ahead of time. Or if you implant it into an item of some form that you activate (like a wand you keep inside your jacket or some single-use wondrous item).

There are plenty of ways to use it to conceal your casting properly. Though I admit it would have been cooler if the spell worked without provoking or some such, that would likely be more than a first level spell.
