Rounding rules

Rules Questions

Is there is a guideline in the rules about what happens for equations that come out with a decimal result? For example, dual wielding a weapon gives 1.5x STR mod to damage. With a +2 mod, that results in 3.5. Does this get rounded to 4 or lobbed down to 3?

Thanks.

In general, decimals are always rounded down.

Round all fractions down, unless the rule tells you to round up or gives a minimum effect.

Also, for the example given with a +2 modifier, 1.5*2 = 3, not 3.5, so in that case there is no rounding going on.

But yeah, as a general rule round down unless a specific rule tells you otherwise.

Always round down, damage or hitpoints gained are always at least 1.

As OneSoulLegion points out: your maths sample has gone awry. But the rule is: round down (minimum 1)

Aye, my math was bad. That teaches me to post math questions at 4 AM local time. Thanks everyone!

Houserule only, but we've always played so that the extra damage from strength from wielding a weapon two-handed is at least one more than one-handed...i.e., if you have a str mod of +1, you do +2 damage from two-handed, if you have +0 it becomes +1, etc.
