Could you fix that quote? I didn't say any of that. Thanks. I'm one of those weirdos that will just houserule stuff if I don't like the RAW (e.g. in my 1e game, elves could be druids. Anybody could be anything, actually. No level limits for demi-humans (I just gave humans some extra money and a few other things to compensate), etc).

Other crazy stuff that I just made up. I love cats. I mean loooooove them. I have 20 cats

Never! But seriously, I can't seem to find the edit button on that post. Does it just disappear after a while?

Who told you about my cats?

I think you only have an hour to edit, iirc.

Aapch1, I gifted you the Pathfinder Core Rulebook PDF, check your email. Just grab the PDF @ http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/v5748btpy88yj and use the code in the email.

Go ahead and buy the beginner box and and a module or 2. The problem with the Module (I am assuming the Pathfinder Society Scenarios) is that they sometimes reference the beastiary. But most of the antagonists have there own statblocks in the module. Kick back and read the core rulebook PDF, find a Pathfinder Character Generator online to guide you through your first character creation.(I cant link one at the moment). Have fun.

Woah, that was awesome of you Sterling Edge. Proof that there are good people online.

Rules are pretty easy and the game is pretty comprehensive in comparasion to other rpg's.

Modules come with monsters...right?

Depends on what you mean. If you ask whether they have new monsters in them, then yes. Many modules contain new monsters, and there are few that don't have stat blocks for NPCs with levels.

But if you ask whether the module will contain all the monster stats you'll need for the adventure, then no. Critters from the Bestiary are not reprinted. That's why it's a core book. It's assumed you have that so they save lots of space.

Of course, you could always substitute the PRD as it has all the monster stats.

I guess it was not that rules heavy, but it seemed like everything from grabbing someone, to throwing lightning, to taking a piss was a special power, it had its own stat, card, and effect and was dumbed down into what i consider rules. I hated the amount of writing that was forced into the game, and all the combat, combat, combat.
pathfinder looks promising, like it is returning to some good roots

I think I get what you're saying. Everything in 4e is a "power". It's one of the (many) things I dislike about 4e, too: Classes look all the same. It's just powers, powers, powers, for everything. That and board game rules. I much prefer rules that are closer to making sense instead of being oversimplified fiat.

I think Pathfinder does a great job: classes aren't forced into pigeon holes, they don't have to comply to one of the four approved class types. Even without the optional archetype rules, classes allow a lot of choices and work for more than one narrow, confined character concept. There is at least an attempt to make the rules both easy and sensible before blowing off realism for simplicity.

Pathfinder, being the third incarnation of 3rd edition D&D (the best version of the best edition), inherited 3e's design philosophy: "Tools, not rules." The game always tries to tell you how to do something and what the consequences are going to be, not "you can't do this". Sure, it doesn't always succeed, but the system does its level best to always try (except, maybe, in cases, where not only ease of use but also common sense say things should not be possible)

So here is a list of tons of Paizo resources to get a big feel for the system and to absolutely overwhelm you. If you want to get a quick game on, check out “We be Goblins”, if you want to start your long term campaign, check out “Master of the Fallen Fortress.” If you want to get a full overload to the system check out the Pathways E-Zine. All Free.

If you want to get balls deep into it check out any of the 6 book adventure paths. If you want to remain more free to do what you choose, stick with one night adventures like the Pathfinder Society Scenarios, http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/scenarios if you are more into hardcopy modules I suggest http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/scenarios/sanctioned , look for high ratings. Without further ado, hit these:
