I want to build my own dungeon

Pathfinder Online

Basically what the title says. I want to be able to carve out my own dungeon complex. Attract monsters and other minions, build traps, place treasure hoards, etc.

Ah, but what kind of dungeon? I mean, do you really want to give away your money for anyone who can bypass a few traps and monsters?

Or is it, "I'm an eccentric wizard who wants to protect his research." Or, "I'm going to build a giant temple to my deity, Lamashtu." Or maybe, "I want to start my own orc clan, and we need a home." Or, "I'm doing something nefarious, and this structure that once was a mansion/lighthouse/clocktower will serve nicely as a temporary base of operations until my plan is complete."

Honestly, if my only objective was to build a dungeon, I would make it as deadly as possible, not put ANY treasure in it, then spread the rumor the treasure was there. And laugh as foolish treasure-seekers died by the hordes.

Except for the victors who know control a nigh-impregnable dungeon complex to launch raids and set up their own territory from.

Not sure how, but this would be fun. If you tied it into the who player kingdom/nation concept. Maybe someone(guild) builds a tower or dungeon that people can pay gold to enter.

The dungeon owner(s) could populate the place with items and depending on the amount of gold and value of items would automatically calculate the cost for entry.

I'd so build a dungeon especially if people paid to enter. :D

A sort of 'create your own theme park' dungeon.

I hope this type of construction is possible as well, but I also hope it is not a quick or easy process. If people have to actually work to build a "house" for instance, it will keep everyone from randomly doing so. Weeks of gathering and resources and crafting key components to finally build a one room cottage sounds good to me.

The likes of Moria would obviously take a clan of dwarves much longer.

First check with the build department about zoning and permits. Next look for the lender with the best rates and good insurance, you don't want the ecomony to collapse and you lose your money on this project. Then hire a contractor with a repution for good work that is completed on time.

The "monsters" are the easy part advertise no credit checks and no money down and watch the undesirables come pooring in.

For the traps Evict the whole lot for no reason. If you did you homework your tenets should dig in. You won't be able to burn him out.

"Hire Adventurers" er Con suckers into performing the evictions.

I'vem mentioned this in a few other threads but I'm going to put it here.

I want to be able to to add my own dungeons, quests and instances for my fellow players to play through. I don't mind if this is divorced from the character experience, as a mission editor would be the best way to do this.

I know getting the core game out is super important, but if people clamour for this then it might become a priority for addition to the game.

This would be a great feature. No idea idea if/when it could be implemented.

In the early days only those who completed X/100 quest points were allowed building access. Then a coding requirement was added. In PF terms it would be similar to making only available to EPIC characters who gave up playering to GM. It is possible, though I understand quality control would be the hard part... :)

If they pieces are in place then it should QC itself.

Word of mouth or a rating system would help.

An idea is that the items are placed there by players be they drops or crafted. So if the dungeon is easy then it is no worse than giving away the items. If the items were generated by the game mechanics it could easily be abused.

The motivation would be to put high grade items and gold at the 'end' and make it as hard as possible to obtain. This would increase the fee for entry which is automatically calculated.

On that note, a giant maze might be cool.

Ideally the mechanics offer the pieces to use and allow for most control to the players.

Or you could just let the players go find what the previous owners/builders left, where they left it.

Or the monsters who have moved in might have brought their belongings with them, with of course the gear from adventurers they have killed of dropped by heros who have died in the dungeon previously.

If there was a item drop upon death, then yeah that would be completely awesome if the monsters looted their corpses, maybe even equip the items potentially making them harder to kill and the playerscould try and get back there lost items. I like that a lot actually. >;+)

Yeah, and it is the best of both worlds because you could technically go reclaim your gear. It is either laying on your corpse or being carried off by some humanoid that you could go a-hunting.

Or if it is a crafted item, say the "Greatsword of Frank" and he lost it. I go in and find it I could give it back if he is a friend, sell it back or walk around showing it off, "Hey look, I got Frank;s sword, neener."

Though I like the idea of someone helping me (or me helping them) get it back.

I forget what game it was but they mobs would loot corpses so if you didn't loot it fast enough and the mob (I think it was specifically a goblin) would walk over and loot it. Must have been UO or something similar.

I'd love this too. There are always people who are creative and love that stuff, and other people who'd appreciate playing it. City of Heroes has such a feature, and EQ2 will have it soon. (Though in both it's not available for free.)
