Hello there! Looking for some ideas from the folks on the forums for some challenges to throw at my party!

Background Information:

Party is 6 (almost 7), have one piece of an artifact, and are looking to hunt down the remaining pieces while dealing with other factions/groups that also desire it! They have just entered Numeria to sign up for a race across the Felldales hoping to win another piece of the artifact.

Currently, my plan is to have a five (checkpoint) race across the western half of Numeria vs various faction teams, (the party is siding with the Pathfinder Society). Winning the race will be determined by the # of points each group earns.

The points are going to come via two parts:

1) Getting from destination A --> destination B. (Obstacles in the way, other factions sabotaging each other). Fastest group gets more points, etc etc.

2) At the checkpoints there will be further challenges to either (give some points, or items (party choice in case they feel greedy!))

What I'm looking for is ideas for challenges to throw at them for the travel portion.. (like, 'Navigate a Numerian mine field!', or 'Giant Robot Scorpion crossing!')And contests at the check points (sort of ala River Kingdom's style) Examples include: Foot race, or Honey Badger wrangling/herding.

Any ideas you can provide would be most beneficial, and please let me know if I should provide further information!

Silver Crusade

Numeria is the high technology one right?

An enormous herd of electro buffalo is migrating across a part of the trail. The check point is in the middle of the very large herd (think annual wildebeest migration). Problem is that the buffalo cause 1d6 electricity damage just by touching them and they are in constant movement.

Contest at that check point...each character has to subdue an electrobuffalo.

A miles long section of road is really a construct. Periodically it does the wave and you need to reflex save to avoid being thrown into the air for damage. It also has a bunch of abilities to make the PCs think the are going the wrong way an generally confuse directions and distance.

Checkpoint... Get me a brick from the road.
