Air Bubble Spell and Gases

Rules Questions

Does the Air Bubble spell protect against posion gases and the like? What about the cloudkill spell?

Air Bubble

Made it a link

I would say it does not. The spell is only first level so I doubt it would.

I remember there being a wonderous items that created fresh air around the wearers head but I cannot remember what it is called.

Necklace of adaptation. Also, helm of underwater action while it's in use.

Thanks for that.

I don't think it is intended to offer any protection from gases, it's pretty clearly designed as a water breathing effect and there is no indication that it filters the air.

That said, I kind of made that assumption when I first read it also, and I think it's a reasonable reading so shy of some errata, or comments from the dev team, seems reasonable.

"Holding one's breath doesn't help, but creatures immune to poison are unaffected by the spell."

Breathing the vapors is not required for cloudkill, so presumably the vapors poison through the skin so it wouldn't help with cloudkill

The necklace actually covers the whole body in breathable air and is specifically worded to make it clear it makes the wearer safe from 'all harmful vapors'.
