Mikmek as a player character

Kingmaker

Last session one of my players took a shine to Mikmek when they were in the mites' cavern under the old sycamore tree. Mikmek swore to fight alongside them, and then proceeded to score 3 consecutive critical hits on Grabbles and the Giant Centipedes, he was accidentally the hero of the hour. Then one of my players died a rather unnecessary death by smoke inhalation. So I'm toying with the possibility of statting Mikmek up as his replacement character for our next session.

Has anyone done a build for him already? Does anyone have any ideas or advice for how he could be played? I was thinking of having him somewhat haunted by his experience of being captured and tortured. I'll need to make him level 2 or level 3 to be on par with the other players.

My players tend towards the more chaotic and evil alignments already, so I'm not too worried about having a kobold in the party.

I'd let the player recreate Mikmek in terms of stats and class levels, if he is to be a PC then he should follow PC creation rules.

I agree with Leonal. If Mikmek is becoming a PC, then that player should have control over him from the start.

In my game, Mikmek is an important NPC (liaison to the Sootscale tribe), and is slowly gaining levels in monk, mostly because he idolizes one of the PCs, who is a cleric/monk of Irori.

A similar outcome happened in my game. Mikmek was freed after the fight with the whiptail and was loaned a masterwork dagger found earlier (using the variant/House-rule that since it was equivalent to a Small short sword, no penalty), and proceeded to help with the rest of the dungeon and provide an introduction to the Sootscales. I pegged him as LN: cowardly and a bit skittish, but true to his comrades and not as bitter as one would expect. He started as a 1st level rogue and survived long enough to level up in his own right to a 2nd-level rogue.

To keep with your theme of being haunted by his time with the mites, it might be kind of cool and fun to make him a fighter with the Unbreakable archetype. It'd explain how he was able to survive. In my campaign, he's actually on his way to becoming a cleric of Sarenrae. When I do the build, I'll give him the heroic array and adjust from there.
