Quigley Advice

Advice

I have to create a character for an upcoming campaign that revolves around firearms. I want to go for the sniper / rifleman route (think Matt Quigley from the movie Quigley Down Under), but I'm not sure what the best route is to go. We have been told we can substitute pretty much any bow/crossbow stuff to work for firearms. We are starting at 9th level.

Right now what I'm looking for is the best way to do one big shot of damage a round at long range. I'm thinking it may be best to go Fighter and use the Crossbowman Archtype, using a rifle instead of bow of course, and taking the standard ranged feats. I'd kind of like to get some stealthy snipping going but I think I will have to multi into Rogue for that. Though with Improved Deadshot at 7th level, I think I would get sneak attack to every readied attack.

Any thoughts would be welcomed.

Silver Crusade

First, you can't benefit from sneak attack if you're more than 30 feet away. I think there are any feats or abilities to beat this limitation.

Its not a deeply rooted thought, but the Musket Master archetype of the Gunslinger seems the way to go. It is a solid archetype, better than crossbowman for damage output (especially for one shot). Be sure to get:

Oil of Silence:
Aura faint illusion; CL 5th
Slot none; Price 250 gp; Weight —

Description
When applied to a one-handed or two-handed firearm, this strange grayish oil renders that firearm silent for 1 hour. Five vials of oil of silence can be used in conjunction to silence a Large firearm siege engine, and 10 can be used to silence a Huge firearm siege engine. The oil does not work on firearm siege engines that are larger than Huge.

Construction Requirements
Craft Wondrous Item, silence; Cost 125 gp

Vital Strike should help out with this...

I'd also recommend Unarmed Strike. I haven't seen the movie in a while, but Quigley seems like the guy who can throw a punch.
