Treasure generator correct?

I tested this very neat treasure generator located at:

http://pathfinder.zonegamma.com/

The site is very nice and neat; however, I'm not sure it makes too much sense.

In the Pathfinder random encounter tables I had a 10th level fighter generated to fight 10 Orcs. If I put this information in the treasure generator (Avg DC, APL 10, Med pace, Standard quantity, standard magic, 10% residual gp, and 50% coins/jewels), it comes up with:

1) Divine Scroll, Inflict critical wounds {4th/7th} : 700gp [+]
2) Masterwork Hide Armor : 165gp [+]
3) Dust of disappearance : 3500gp [+]
4) Lock, Good 80 gp [120%, Fine Quality] : 96gp [+]
5) Potion of Remove paralysis {2nd/3rd} : 300gp [+]
6) Climber's kit 80 gp [Standard Quality] : 80gp [+]
7) Lock, Good 80 gp [72.5%, Cheap Quality] : 58gp [+]
8) Sai 1 gp [Standard Quality] : 1gp [+]
9) Signet ring 5 gp [Standard Quality] : 5gp [+]

Treasure Value
Treasure(4905gp)
+ Gems & Jewels(273gp)
+ Coins(272gp)
= 5450gp

This seems like an awful lot for 10 Orcs to have...is this me or is this normal? i com from 2ed D&D, where creatures were listed with treasure types and rolls were made on chart. The Orc listing in the Bestiary only says "other treasure."

What say you?

So with the settings you gave, you asked the tool to generate appropriate treasure for a CR10 encounter (an "average" difficulty encounter for a group of 4 10th-level characters). Your 10 orcs are not even close to CR10. I'm not sure exactly how many standard falchion-wielding 1st-level orc warriors (at CR 1/3 each) it would take to add up to CR10, but it's a few dozen at least. Your 10 orcs would be about CR5 (although you actually get 12 orcs for CR5), so you can ask the tool about a CR5 encounter ("average" for APL5, or "challenging" for APL4) and you get 1550g in total treasure. Which is a more reasonable reward for slaughtering all the warriors of a mid-size orc tribe. A CR10 encounter is, for example, 3 hill giants, or a dire lion and his 10 ordinary lionesses. MUCH more dangerous than 10 orcs.

Also, for your CR10 encounter, the tool came up with 5450g worth of loot. Split 4 ways, this is about 1300g per character, which as expected is not that much money for a 10th level fighter who's looking at trying to afford 8k for +2 weapons, or 10k for a belt of physical might +2 or a dozen other things that each cost in the 8-12k range. Considering that an APL10 party might expect to fight 3 or 4 CR10 encounters in a single day, they'll probably be able to afford half the stuff they want by the time they reach 11th level, as expected.

Still, this is a pretty neat tool, thanks for the link!

Hmmm I used a random generator to calculate the orcs, too.

If the orcs had more than a single NPC class level then they may have qualified for a higher CR.
