"While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole.
Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life. None of the dead creature's equipment or possessions are affected in any way by this spell."
Does a body that has been pulverized count as whole?
I believe that as long as the material of the body is there that the raise dead is viable. If it will raise a body that been mauled by an animal why not being pulverized?

If it was mauled little enough to remain whole, good. One can survive being mauled badly. One could also be mangled to the point it could not be raised in this manner, as would be expected from a dire bear. Being pulverized suggests that the body is no longer recognizable at least. A pulverized arm? Raise dead won't bring that back. Definition of pulverize and maul according to Webster:
1: to reduce (as by crushing, beating, or grinding) to very small particles : atomize <pulverize rock>
2: annihilate, demolish
1: beat, bruise
2: mangle - to injure with deep disfiguring wounds by cutting, tearing, or crushing
3: to handle roughly
Disintegrating something is the best form of pulverization, leaving only fine dust (heh heh). Not seeing how being pulverized is the lesser of the two. In other words... being turned into mush or worse probably qualifies as not being whole for the purposes of Raise Dead.
