I've used this in my games to much success.

Clerics lose the ability to spontaneously cast cure/inflict spells. In their place they may spontaneously cast any of their Domain Spells instead. (The Domain slot becomes just a regular spell slot.)

Critique, if you're into that kind of thing.


Done this before & it worked just fine.


Sure actually makes each god in a pantheons cleric's a bit more different from one another other than being Positive or Negative energy aligned and emphasizes domains as both RP and character function/role. Which is actually hyper cool. Fire gods clerics don't spontaneously heal they burn stuff to the ground playing with the primal spark of life.

I'd make it a feat. Possibly with an "Ability to cast 3rd level Divine Spells" prerequisite. But that's just me.

Does this mean you would take a feat to LOSE the ability to spontaneously cast spells? Most feats GIVE you things ...
