Okay, why does Scent still work like this: Scent rules
... when Perception includes smells now? Wouldn't it be more elegant to abandon the whole intricate sub-rule in favor of a bonus to Perception checks involving scent? Perhaps +5 or +10?
"Spot" used to include smelling as well. Only Listen was a separate skill.
Scent was and still is its own detection system. It auto detects the presence creatures within 30 feet, and then follows the rules for its narrowing it down to the square.
They might redo it when they redo stealth.
