Spells to make better undead

Advice

I know Haste is needed to create Fast Zombies, but I'm not familiar with the other spells that can be used to make other varieties of undead beasties. What are some good options? How much can one improvise with new spell combinations (outside of DM allowances)?

I see that Contagion can be used to make Plague Zombies and stuff like Enervation is needed for Skeletal Champions and such. Has anyone else experimented with different variations? Maybe Bull's Strength to make especially strong zombies or Cause Fear to give them a fear touch ability.

Some ideas...

-X ranks in Heal+Bull's Strength+Animate Undead+multiple bodies=undead hulk with 5-6 limbs and/or multiple heads.

-Aura of Doom+Animate Undead=zombie with fear aura

-Bestow Curse or Debilitating Portent+Animate Undead=zombie that gives you a mild curse when destroyed.

-Summon Swarm or Insect Plague or Vomit Swarm+Animate Undead=zombie with a swarm hiding inside

Bloodsworn Retribution looks like it could be a lot of fun. It could make for some cool role playing too, promising a dying NPC that you can help them achieve their vengeance through necromancy.

I've had zombies alchemically treated so that when they get knocked over they blow up. One of the party was invisible when they did that, and he got zombie gore spattered all over him.

Nice, I like it! I talked with two of the DM's I know and they said something like this can be done with something like a Spellcraft/Caster Level check as well any other checks that are needed. The exploding Alchemical Zombies would need a Craft: Alchemy check, for instance.
