Dimensional Weapon Property

Homebrew and House Rules

Dimensional

Aura Strong conjuration; CL 12th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, dimension door; Price +3 bonus.

Description

This ability can only be placed on a thrown, ranged weapon, or ammunition.

A Dimensional weapon or weapon's ammunition instantly travels to its target once the weapon or weapon's ammunition leaves your possession. If you have line of effect to your target you apply the target modifiers as if you were adjacent to your target in the square closest to your target; however, concealment between you and your target affect you normally.

If your target has total concealment or total cover you may still attack your target as if they had total concealment (50% miss chance) (e.g. you could attack the square behind a closed door).

Es good?

The Exchange

This reminds me of the Longbow Grenade Mod from Borderlands.

This could allow a person with a gun to Touch attack from miles away, as long as he cold see the target. That, I see as a bit broken. With a few gunslingers and some Dimensional Firearms, you could easily take out armies from afar. This is my biggest concern with the property as written.

As written it allows you to ignore range penalties and if you know what square they are in you can attack though total cover.

Unlike the Seeking ability Concealment still affects you (as you still need to see your target.

Should there be a maximum range on this so as to not make it too abusive?

2 range increments or 120-feet? Something like that?

The spell normally has a range of Long so that's why I thought the maximum range increment of the weapon was fine.

The Exchange

I like the ability, but there definitely needs to be a max range. I'm not a very good "balancer", so I'm not quite sure where that should be, but IMO, it needs to be toned down a bit.

Hopefully, some others will chime in and help with the range/ other issues that they may be able to see.

+2 bonus, max range equal to either the weapon's maximum range (for a projectile weapon such as a bow) or double the weapon's maximum range (for a thrown weapon such as a javelin.)

That's my advice anyway.

EDIT: for extra fun, make it a +1 Synergy property with the Distance weapon property (meaning the total cost is +2, but you can slap 'upgrade' a weapon of Distance into a Dimensional Weapon.
