Gnoll statblocks...

Shields take one hand. The spear takes two. Not the short spear, the spear.

AC 15, touch 10, flat-footed 15 (+2 armor, +1 natural, +2 shield)
Melee spear +3 (1d8+3/×3)

LUCY YOU'VE GOT SOME SPLAININ' TO DO!

Liberty's Edge

I find it weird that they don't get a bite attack.

Scarab Sages

Oh, it gets "better":

Treasure NPC Gear (leather armor, heavy wooden shield, battleaxe, longbow with 20 arrows, other treasure)

Italics mine.

Edit: Fortunately, the stats for battleaxe and spear line up well enough that the "Melee" line could be the one in error, and should read "battleaxe +3 (1d8+3/x3)" instead.

Dunno about the Ranged entry, though.

It should be a battleax. The damage is the same as the spear and it can used one-handed. The battleax is used by the gnoll in MM3.5. MM3.5 uses a shortbow instead of the longbow; no big deal since on either he would have to drop the shield. The stat block should include the bow as an OR.

It would have been good if they could have caught this in their latest printing.

I just looked at the Bestiary; it is even more sad that it shows a gnoll with a spear in both hands and no shield.

Yeah I just don't get how it hasn't changed all this time. It's like that on d20pfsrd and on the paizo srd.

Yeah, well, if you feel like payin' the artist to redo the Gnoll art, you go ahead and do that: I'm sure Paizo will appreciate your assist. ;)

We'll add an Editor's Note box to the Gnoll with whatever we determine.

That bugs me about a lot of humanoids with huge fangs. Kobolds, orcs, half-orcs, ogres, goblins, hobgoblins, bugbears, etc. should have a bite attack and, in some cases (kobolds, lizardfolk, etc.) should have claw attacks as well.

Our crack team of monkeys on typewriters has touched up the page to address the concerns (at least on our end)
