I'm interested in how you would play this. The pit is a valid target of shadow conj spell, and if someone makes their will save, what happens? Do they have a 1/5 chance of falling, but are otherwise suspended in mid-air? Do they fall the full distance, but only take 1/5 damage? Do they fall 1/5 of the way and take appropriate damage for that distance?

I was actually thinking about this today. If he disbelieved it, but didn't roll the SC check he might walk over it. If you roll that he is effected, then he'd get the reflex save or fall in, take reduced damage as normal etc. I would rule falling damage normal because that's not really the spell damaging you, though I could be wrong.
But what if you are fighting over this pit? Do you roll the % per round? And he falls in during round 3 while standing right in the middle of the pit? Do you have to make the will save along with him even though you cast the spell?

I'm pretty sure you only roll disbelief upon first contact with the spell. That determines whether you believe it's real or not.
The pit spells have an effect other than damage (falling) so there's a 20% chance for a disbeliever to still fall. The falling damage caused is due to distance, not magic, so would not be reduced. The damage added by spikes or acid would be reduced.

Ok, so to clarify, there are 4 options:
Will save yes, reflex yes: disbelief and evaded: no effect
Will save no, reflex no: belief and full effect
Will save no, reflex yes: Still believes the pit is real, but it doesn't affect him unless he is pushed in etc.
Will save yes, reflex no: He believes it is an illusion, but he still risks (1/5) falling the full distance (and taking full damage from falls. He also realizes that spikes etc are illusory and they do 1/5 of their damage.
Is this savvy?

Yes. The 20% chance of falling (all or nothing) mirrors the 1/5 damage, so he takes it in full, but less often.
It is really weird though that you could walk on it then fall later. Not sure how many times you'd roll the 20% or how it'd effect the caster. The pit is partially real.
