myrmidarch magus

Rules Questions

Does Myrmidarch Magus lose Melee Spellstrike, or does he gain Ranged Spellstrike in addition to Melee Spellstrike?

I'm not sure from the wording.

in addition... Ranged spellstrike arrives at fourth and replaces "spell recall and improved spell recall." (which is alot to lose)

The archetype doesn't list "spellstrike" itself as modified, you you get it as written.

Thanks ;)

Was confused by some forum posts of people who were confused :D

It does not replace Spellstrike, but Spell Recall and Improved Spell Recall. So he gets Ranged Spellstrike and retains the normal Spellstrike.

Ranged Spellstrike is still pretty much borked as written, of course...

Yes it is

As I understand it: at lvl 4 you can cast a spell and use deliver it per bow as a standard action.
But you cannot use Spell Combat with a ranged weapon yes?

At lvl 11, you can cast a spell - and if it has multiple targets affected simmultanously (scorching ray), then you can make one attack for each as a full-round action
Again, no spell combat with ranged weapons.

Is that correct?

That's my understanding, Sertaki. I suppose that a hand crossbow-wielding or cross-class Gunslinger\Myrmidarch could be semi-effective, since they'll have a hand free for Spell Combat.

as per the rules even this doesn't work. Spell combat requires a melee weapon.
It could work with melee weapons that can be thrown i suppose ^^

Well I'll propably go into arcane archer before he hits 11 so I won't worry about it :D

thx

Derp. I forgot it says "light or one-handed melee weapon".

Dark Archive

Myrmidarch is designed for the throwing based Magus not the gun, bow or sling type. (as written you can't reload any weapon in the same round you use Spellcombat so let it go).
