Prestige Classes

Rules Questions

I have a question if you have a prestige class like mystic thurge that stops at lvl 10 and your charecter is lvl 17 could you add another lvl of mystic theurge? or would you have to add another class or raise one your your existing classes?

In 3.x there were optional epic level rules for continuing in prestige classes.

There are no such in PF, though personally, I'd be fine with it. Why not?

A 10 level prestige class stops at level 10 and can't be advanced further. With mystic theurge specifically, this means you can only achieve effective level 17 casting (and thus 9th level spells) in either arcane or divine magic, but not both.

Right now there is no support for a, to follow your example, 11th level mystic theurge. Your choices are:

1. Homebrew 11th and additional mystic theurge levels. For a mystic theurge, I would let you get the +1 arcane / +1 divine progression, but your GM might not.
2. Take aditional levels in a class you already have. Remember your favorite class bonus.
3. Multiclass further in a new base or prestige class.

I personally would pick either the divine or arcane class that would get me the highest level spells at 20 (assumung you are going that far). It depends on what your build is, a wizard would get 20th level spells, a sorcerer wouldn't. Prestige classes like loremaster which have no dead spell improvement levels may also be fun.
