As a for instance, in a campaign where polymorph any object gives creature type, would using it to counter a Maze spell by turning the target into a Minotaur be acceptable. Or a spectral handed gaseous form on a would be baleful polymorph target. Possibly even putting up a wall of force last second in front of a fireball caster.
Are these acceptable uses of the readied action to counter? They seem like it to me only more creative, but I was wondering if anyone had an arguments against these types of counters. I was also interested in hearing others stories of last second creative counters that others may have used.
