I was just wondering if anyone has ran Kingmaker in other campaign settings?
Which ones? What did you change / where did you focus the adventure?
I was considering Birthright for the campaign at one time and was placing it in the Giantdowns.
I was wondering where someone would put it in Greyhawk, maybe the Shield Lands / Bandit Kingdoms?

I changed the neighbors, Narland is surrounded by this and a few homebrew countries.

I'm putting the Dungeon A Day campaign into Kingmaker. I put Brindenford to the east of Oleg's Trading Post and the dungeon near Brindenford. The beastial host is now also an issue in the surrounding country side along with Bandits.

Weren't they already Birthright campaign in Ginatdowns that was essentialy bringing civilization (sort of, as Rjurkis were the folks civilizing it) to that desolated land?

Yay, Birthright!

Yes, and if I hadn't run the Giantdowns for 5+ years already, that would be a great place for me to run it.
I'm still in planning stages, but I fully intend to run it in BR once we're done with Savage Tide.
I've not run any game in the Vos part of the world, so that's where I'm setting it. The Slavic-sounding names in Restov/Brevoy set it up for me, as well as the cold climate. I'm pretty settled on the Mistmoor, with the PCs spreading west from Rovninodensk.
Changes?
- I'm turning the maps 90 degrees clockwise, so that the PCs are heading west, not south. Pitax => Hjorig, I'll change the Italianate elements to Rjurik, but I'll keep the Midnight Tournament and all, as a mockery of the old Empire.
- Erastil = Erik or Belinik, as needed; Gyronna => Ela, and so on.
- The Stag Lord and the various druids and hermits in Stolen Lands will be the torva remnants of the previous rulers of Rovninodensk.
- First World & fey => Shadow World and the unseelie. A lot of that will fit really easily.
- The number of dragons in Cerilia is supposed to be really low, but I think I'm going to just handwave over that-- if there are two dragons here, then so be it. The Mistmoor is a good a place as any for them to hide.
- I plan to use the KM kingdom rules, and not the BR ones. I'll keep bloodlines, and I'll make something up about how they interact when I need to.
- My group has a standing dislike for 3.5 above 12th level, so when we switch to PF and Kingmaker, it's still an open question whether I will proceed after the 4th module.

My thought as well.

Brechtur perhaps? Mercantile elements of their culture could be close.

Indeed, more than in any other D&D setting, I think.

Yes, which is why its perfect for Pathfinder Birthright KM... I have the old 2e one too. I have them coming out of Anuire though.

I've actually taken out my Giantdowns to use for inspiration. I also think Eberron would be a great place -- Xendrik perhaps?

Someone mentioned in another thread Kingmaker in Qbara region.
Other options besids Xen'drik would be: Eldeen Reaches - on the border of Aundair, or southern east tip bordering with Breland; Droaam on the border with Breland. Border between Karnath and Talenta plains.
Some wild regions of Darguun: with hobgoblin, goblin and orc PCs bringing "civilization" and researching ruins of ancient Dhaakani Empire.

Dhoesone. It is an attempt at gathering allies and pacifying the bandits and giants of the downs. If you read about Dhoesone it talks about the rjuriks gathering in the north and the goblins have been really active. And you are so close to the Gorgon it's not even funny.

** spoiler omitted **.

I would go with the reclamation of Cyre. Basically chamge continuity to say that the fog has rolled back and now the PCs have an opportunity to rebuild the lost nation. A monstrous/goblinoid version near Darguun would be great.

I've done my best to incorporate it into my homebrew, but it's required some rewrites, rearrangements, and other tweaks (like smushing vols 4 & 5 together to keep the PCs from reaching the full levels of the AP's expectations, as I try to avoid going above about 10 in the setting as a general rule. I expect the PCs will wind up about 14 when all's said and done...).
It's taken some work, as many assumptions are made that plant it firmly into Golarion and make it not fit much into my world of A'Thea, though I readily admit that it's not terribly conventional as worlds go.
I got rid of the "first world" stuff, as it didn't fit my cosmology, and changed Nyrissa's motivations to tie more directly into the rather heavy Dragon influences, making her a draconic sorcerer tied to a daemonic dragon who she's plotting to pull back to the world, rather than taking the world to her home dimension.

I'm using it for my homebrew. It has led to some interesting questions, though.
Do elves need to clear a forest hex in order to start building a settlement? What about 'farm' hexes?
Can dwarves convert mines directly into houses or other 'buildings'?
Thankfully, I'm good an improvisation and the players are willing to work with me. No major problems, just little tweaks here and there.
One thing I'm having problems with is coming up with Resources appropriate to an elven-themed kingdom. Mines and mineral deposits don't seem fit into forest terrain.
There's only so many times you can have a grove of trees that will be good for bows, fields of medicinal herbs, and the like. I have one idea:

Good plan, that's what fits, I think.

I too followed with the reclamation of Cyre though those darned mists were still in place. The adventuring group was sponsered by the last known noble heir living in New Cyre.

I am running Kingmaker in Montana in the year 1871. The whole thing has a claim the west vibe with gunslingers, card cheats and ladies of ill repute.
The big changes are the inclusion of guns everywhere from Ultimate Combat and setting changes to the races. Elves have become Native Americans. Humans are Western Europeans. Dwarves are Slavic. Halflings are Africans. Gnomes are Asians.

That rocks! I had the thought that the Stag Lord and gang would make a neat opponent in my old favorite, Twilight:2000, but I think I like yours better.
