Quick Polymorph Question

Rules Questions

Hello. I have a quick question about polymorph spells.

Can you use a higher level polymorph spell to change into a particular size being covered by a lower level polymorph spell (say, using Beast Shape II to change into a small or medium sized creature), or can you only change into a being of the size mentioned in the specific spell (EG: Small/medium for Beast Shape I, tiny/large for BS II, etc.)?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure the types and sizes listed are additions to your repertoire, over and above what is listed in the lower-level spells.
Not rigid restrictions.

A bit like Charm Monster can still be used to charm a 'person'.

The Exchange

BS II says that it functions as BS I except that it also allows you to assume the form of a Tiny or Large creature of the animal type.

So yes you can use it to do the lesser version of the spell.

the answer is yes and you still get the improved options as well. For example, the blindsense, grab, and other advanced options are available if they apply to the smaller creature you are polymorphing into.

In fact, the only thing you cannot do as far as I know is try to polymorph into a smaller version of an animals normal adult size, say a baby stegosaurus.

Edit: cough cough ninja smoke cough cough it stings the nostrils. And the eyes.
