Hello all, I am going to be playing in my roomate's Carrion Crown campaign. After reading through the Inner Sea World Guide, I fell in love with the idea of some sort of Strix priest of Pharasma. I would like to really play up the "Angel of Death" motif. Like, wielding a Scythe and holding power over life and death, that sort of thing. I plan to try and build myself into a symbol, Batman style, to the Ustalavans. I know that it will be an uphill battle earning the trust of the townsfolk, but my DM gave me a letter of introduction from my own priest of Pharasma to the priest in the starter town, and he has basically told me I've got an "in" there.
So, wondering how to hash this out. I can pick up Heirloom weapon for the Scythe, and I am leaning towards the Evangelist archetype for Cleric. I am nervous about doing this, because it replaces your ability to spontaneously cast Cure spells. I am open to playing a Cleric, Oracle, or Bard. Basically anything with the ability to heal and buff the party, while being able to buff myself if I find myself alone.
Ever since 3.5, my roomate has insisted on Point Buy instead of rolling. However, ever since 3.5, he has insisted on high point buys, both when he plays and runs a game. I think it is because he likes the idea of having a high stat without sacrificing anything else. My opinion is that flies in the face of what a high stat means in a Point Buy, but oh well. So what was 36(I know, I know, everywhere else I played around 20-24) in 3.5 is now 30 point buy in Pathfinder. I'm not complaining though. Unless there is a more flavorful race for an Angel of Death, consider the racial choice of Strix set in stone, even if Oracle or Bard is on the table.

Atck: +5 Scythe 2d4+4(+7 2d4+6 w/Inspire Courage, Divine Favor)

Feat: ? (Was thinking Desperate Battler, on account that some of the campaign will be played solo, or only with the aid of my bud's Musket Master.)
Traits: Heirloom Weapon and ?
Any help or ideas on how to accomplish this concept? Being a fan of the Devil May Cry games, I was thinking maybe I could build towards being able to effectively throw my Scythe.

I have a question that may decide what feat you take.
Did you know that Heirloom Weapon has been nerfed? Talk to your DM to see if he/she is going to use the new version or the old one.
Martial Weapon Proficiency would be a better choice, I think, because it means you are proficient in all scythes, not just one.

My DM said basically as long as I didn't choose an Exotic Weapon, old Heirloom weapon was fine. Hm, besides the ridiculous point buy, I would like to keep this as official as possible. By the by, if old Heirloom Weapon is on the table, what feat choices were you thinking of suggesting? I am not too concerned with being able to wield other Scythes, as long as I can wield MY Scythe. My DM hates things like Sunder and Rusting Grasp, etc, so I am pretty confident that I can keep this weapon through the whole game.

How do you feel about Channel Smite(Core Book) and, around level 3, Versatile Channeler(Ultimate Magic)?
Channel Smite means you don't have to worry about taking Selective Channel(which is really on good in groups anyway, and you've said most of the time you're going solo), while Versatile Channeler means you use Channel Smite to hurt undead and the living, and vice versa, instead of just picking one Positive or Negative.

I don't want to spoil things too much, but if you keep the character as a priest of Pharasma, be open to the option of changing weapons... maces in particular are an old favourite.
Now, the evangelist archetype imo sacrifices some domain casting and melee power for buffing via bardic music. That might not be bad overall, but bardic music becomes more useful the more people it affects. If this is going to be a small party (and even if you or your friend takes leadership, it will be) that might not be a very good idea. The crusader might be a touch better, but losing spells and one domain is still a pain. Consider going vanilla cleric or oracle. Bards, generally are mostly support characters - nice if there are 3-4 other guys in the party, but kinda tricky for a near-solo run (as far as I know - other people might differ). Instead of bard, consider making an inquisitor if you want to try a skilled character.
Anyway, if you keep it a cleric, check what domains you take. Repose is imo fairly solid, and you can expect it to come into play quite often. Healing or knowledge are situational. Oracles need to choose a mystery, of which Pharasmin oracles imo have quite a few good ones; the problem is that you said your racial choice is fixed, and the charisma penalty really hurts strix oracles. Apart from that... imo both ancestors and time are well worth a look; bones can be decent but will likely require some tinkering as a lot of its powers are undeath-related - and Pharasma don't like them undead. Heavens is nice, but I'm not sure it will fit your theme and the adventure. Anyway, if it's an oracle, it might be better to be human to remove the penalty and for the awesome alternative favored class bonus from the APG. Extra spells known are golden for a spontaneous caster.
For feats, I'd say a cleric or, for that matter, any class not having a d10 HD and looking to do battle at the frontline could do worse than to take toughness early. From then on, it's a matter of what feat chains you like.

The evangelist archetype is a good archetype, but you also have to ask yourself if it fits your concept. You're going for the Angel of Death idea; that tells me you're going to probably want your spontaneous casting to remain tied to cure spells.
As for the oracle, I second what the Shaman says. I have sat down and looked over the Oracle of Bones for my cleric of Death and found that it's doable, with a bit of reflavoring and a few tweaks, as several of your bonus spells deal with the undead as does your capstone.
If you go cleric, also consider what subdomains you might like. If you have the Repose domain, either Ancestors or Souls could work for you.
