Playing as the major NPCs

Jade Regent

I remember this was being tossed around a bit in the players guide. Has anyone actually ran with this idea? How'd it work out?

Liberty's Edge

I'd like to see this as well. It seems like playing the major NPCs would remove some of the opportunities for role-playing.

That would certainly be my concern, but I'm sure some groups would like the spotlight fixed firmly on them.

Still very curious, will hold out for answers.

The Exchange

I've got one player interested in playing Ameiko, but I won't be starting until the entire AP is out. Ask again in six months?

Liberty's Edge

This reminds me of Dragon Age: Origins in a lot of ways, no surprise considering the designers intended it that way. In this case, instead of playing as Ameiko, the players have the option of putting her on the throne, putting one of themselves on the throne, or putting her on the throne and marrying her.

Having interesting NPCs is what drew me to this AP. If the players take on the roles of the existing NPCs, I'd probably want to create some more supporting characters to fill the gap.

I'll be busy conscripting all of my friends and loved ones into Skull and Shackles...

I got it to add to my religious collection of Sandpoint stuff for my runelords game... So yes! Me too!
