Hey guys, I don't quite understand how the Magus' Spell Combat works. If the Magus in in melee and takes a full round action he can attack with a one handed weapon and cast a spell with his off hand.
Does the spell just work or must the Magus make a Concentration check? If so what is the DC for say a 1st level spell?
Thanks in advance

If the magus is threatened, he makes a Concentration check as normal for casting in melee range, at the normal DC of 15+ double the spell level. So casting a 1st level spell would be a DC 17 Concentration check.

One neat trick is that you can take a 5-foot step during a full attack action, meaning that you can start 5-feet away from the enemy, cast the spell, then step in and continue the attack.

The Lunge feat is excellent for a magus for the same reason. If you're not directly threatened, you don't need to make the check.

You can also ignore the check, if you want, but you'd suffer an attack of opportunity, and that could disrupt your spell, forcing a concentration check anyway.

Thanks for clearing that
