Quick Ben: Malazan Book of the Fallen

Has anyone tried making Quick Ben? Love the character and after looking at witch I really think it fits more so than a Wizard.

Any suggestions on building him as a Witch?

I highly doubt ability to make anything remotely similar to Malazan mages in Pathfinder due to quite different way the magic works there than more-or-less Vancian magic of Pathfinder rules. Additionaly, the fact that Malazan cosmolgy shows healthy lack of distinction between arcane and divine makes it harder to come anywhere close to PF.

Also, note that bastard cheats when it comes to magic so heavily that it is hard to say what he is actually capable of doing, what is some tricky illusion and what is drawn from outside sources, with or without conset of other powers (I am looking on you Hood).

Witch seems to be lacking when it comes to illusions and deception when comparing to Wizard and thus would be harder to represent Ben's capabilities. Additionally Witch is dependent upon Familiar and Ben shows no signs of having one nor are his magical abilities resembling hexes, at least for me. Bottle is another story. He could be seen as Witch with his realiance on animals and his unwillingness of using warrens (e.g. modern structured magic).

Dark Archive

You couldn't make Quick Ben without gestalt rules. After all, he has souls of eleven mages inside him - and their powers as well.

Ya your probably right. He is an awesome character though.

That cheating bastard? Hell, yeah, he is in my top five together with Anomander, Hood, Ganoes and Fiddle with Bottle, Kalam and Whiskeyjack just behind him. But exact position between characters shifts depending on my current mood like the eyes of the Andii.
