Ethnicities of Golarion

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I started reading some more on Golarion and currently I'm on Humans of Golarion, trying to get the hang of knowing the differences between ethnicities (based on the looks), but I'm having troubles with some, namely Keleshites and Taldans.

While I assume Keleshites are based Turkish/Arabic people, what would be the real-life match of Taldans? And while we're still on the same topic, the same question for Chelaxians and Kellids? I see Kellids as Picts, but I could be wrong.

And if Varisians have dusky skin (as Roma people) how are notable Varisian characters (let's say Yasmadrin Senir and Alpon Caromarc) completely pale and don't look AT ALL Varisian?

Link.

James Jacobs said in that thread that Taldans are like Romans.

He also said "Kellids are northern european (I sometimes jokingly refer to them as Conans around the office)."

And he said that lastgrasp's analogies are "pretty spot on," so presumably he endorses ideas like:

Keleshite - Middle Eastern
Chelaxian - Italian type

Thanks for clearing that up. Although the picture of a Taldan man in Humans of Golarion does look like a spanish person...

But if Kellids are northern european, what are Ulfen then?

Sovereign Court

Ulfens are the vikings of Golarion, while the Kellids are the Cimmerians.

Isn't it obvious? They're in disguise! Those Varisians are all just a bunch of tricky, baby-stealing Sczarni, after all... :P

Whoa!

When I first posted, I wrote only two lines. (I was in a rush to post before I got ninja'd.) But then I edited my post and added more. Now I notice that every other time I view this page, the stuff I added isn't displayed.

Well, here's the rest of my post, again, in case it doesn't survive:

And I guess that Toadkiller Dog edited his last post as well, because the last part...

...sometimes appears for me and sometimes doesn't. Is it just me, or is anyone else seeing this?

(If this is happening to other people, maybe we should say something on the "website feedback" subforum.)

Anyway, I personally see the Ulfen as being, more specifically, the Vikings.

The Roma people typo is pretty funny but then I thought of Roma tomatoes. Then I thought of a giant tomato as a monster.

Except it's not a typo:
