Non-Magical Fire Arrows?

Rules Questions

I'm in charge of an NPC crafter, and one of the other players in my group is asking after arrows that do fire damage. We're too low level for weapons with the Flaming property, so he was wondering about non-magical alternatives.

Are there existing rules for this anywhere?

The first thing that occurs to me is just to make the arrow a couple inches longer and wrap a small amount of flammable material soaked in tar just behind the arrowhead. It would need to be ignited (probably as a move action) before firing, and then it would deal a small amount of fire damage (say, 1d3).

The other alternative, of course, would be to figure out some way of attaching a flask of alchemist's fire to the shaft.

Either way, I'd really rather use existing rules if there are any.

In 3.0 they had alchemists arrows which pretty much were arrows with a built in alchemists fire flask.

Yes. Check out the Weapons section of the SRD. There's quite a few alchemical arrows listed there (originally from Elves of Golarion).

There's also some alchemical crossbow bolts, and there isn't really a reason that you couldn't apply the same properties to an arrow.

Ahh, of course! Why didn't I think to check the PFSRD?

Thanks.
