Disclaimer: not my auction, just found it while searching.
Seems to be a deal for someone trying to find the first issue.
13 books, one of them Burnt Offerings, for $75 shipped (of which Burnt Offerings seems to sell for alone).
Not the greatest of other books, but not entirely BAD stuff, and the quantity alone seems to sweeten the deal.

Wait, Burnt Offerings goes for $75!? I've had a copy of that sitting around for years. Why is it so valuable, especially in the easily-pirateable-PDF age?
Because some of us value the print media? I know I do. It's out of print, and it's the first chapter of the first AP.
PDF is a great ancillary product, and can be useful until print is attained (or if it's not available in print), but paper is where it's at.
Plus, paper doesn't require electricity... :)

Yes, but PDFs can be printed. (To be honest, I greatly prefer physical media to digital media whenever possible.) Why pay $75 for something when you can download the PDF and print it out for far less?
Anyway, I think the moral of this story is I need to sell my copy of Burnt Offerings ASAP. Any offers? :-P

If that works for you, awesome. I do print PDFs of material that aren't available already printed, but I much prefer the professionally printed stuff.
Why? I don't know that I can explain why, it's just "better" to me.

I honestly don't think you'll have an issue if you list it on eBay (were it me, I'd start it at $50-$60). I've already got my own copy, and the alternate cover (signed by James Jacobs!).

In Soviet Russia, nobody has any physical copies of anything RPG.
So,i went into a FLGS last week and purchased copy of Burnt Offerings. They tried to sell that one copy for THREE YEARS.My wife was beyond happy.
I may be wrong, but entire print run of Burnt Offerings is something like 5000+-.There will be no more(exept potential hardcover release that will make originals worth even more)
In ten years,it will be worth an entire hardcover library of Pathfinder.
It also feels great^^

Hmm. Are you sure about that? I'd love to hang onto it if it means I can sell it for lots of money further down the line, but I wouldn't want to hang onto something I could sell now for $60+ and find out in ten years that it just isn't worth anything anymore for whatever reason.
I suppose for now I can put it along with my copy of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!! that I'm saving until after Mike Tyson dies...

I actually pretty sure about that. The more popular pathfinder will be,the more it will cost.
That's a FIRST issue of FIRST AP.Written by James Jacobs(God on Earth)to boot.Autographed alternate cover will be worth even more...Question is:why sell it?60$ now is 2 new hardcovers, tops.
I'm poor as a rat,and i don't even think of selling mine.Not worth it.

I would point out that treating RPG books as an investment is probably one of the quickest ways to NOT see a return on said investment.
Our market is incredibly finicky. Stuff could sell new for cover price one day, sell for triple cover at the point that it goes out of print or is cancelled, and then sell for a couple bucks a few months later.

If, as is constantly speculated, Paizo produces a hardcover collected RotRL, I would expect the resale value of the original softcover books to drop like a rock. Not only will the adventure be available in print again, but it will be new and improved and updated to PFRPG. If you want to take advantage of some guy out there, do so before such a project is announced.

Correct. It was the case with Drizzt miniature.
It was worth around 100-150$ before Legend of Drizzt scenario pack(also contains Gargantuan White Dragon and some barbarian).40$ now,4 years later.

Entirely possible. "Right now" is a known quantity. The future is not.
Though, to flip sides, and play devil's advocate, I wouldn't bet that a hardcover reprint with PF rules would necessarily affect the price of this.
You can get the PF Core Rulebook for $31.49 at Amazon, but ratty copies of the 3.5 PHB are still selling for around that price.

Point. The portion of the market still playing 3.5 (and thus supporting the high resale price of the PHB) would continue to want the 3.5 version of RotRL. The question is, how large a market niche is that, and how many copies of Burnt Offerings do they want?
