Is Grease flammable?

Rules Questions

I have run a campaign where I ruled that it did - with 1d6 damage for one round to each person within the 10' square.

It always seemed a bit overpowered.

Now, with the addition of Spark, I think it could be a gamebreaker at low levels, especially for a Sorcerer.
However, now that I write this it would take two standard actions to cause a Ref save or can't move/fall prone and 1d6 damage. That is not huge.

Still interested if there is anything in the RAW.

Scarab Sages

Nope, not flammable. The spell Grease describes what it can do. It isn't listed as flammable. There are many kinds of grease that don't burn.

Generally speaking, low level spells are more restrictive than higher level spells.

You don't want to get in the habit of implying extra abilities that aren't listed in a spells description.

Nicely said. It comes from a habit of trying to not say No to everything as a first reaction. We already have a DM that does that.

In 3.5 there was a spell in complete Mage that was called incendiary slime. The spell was basically grease, except it was flammable. The spell was level 2.

Hmmm, if they ask about it I'll mention this. Or maybe my Wizard character in a different campaign might research it.
