Monsters with grab / trip / pull etc.

I thought ( possibly in the beta? ) that monsters with pull/trip/grab etc treat the attack roll to hit as the CMB check to perform the maneuver against you. but I re-read the entry in Beastiary 2 last night, and it says something more like when they hit with the specified attack, they can attempt the maneuver as a free action. Didn't specify whether to use the attack roll as the CMB check. ( and it would be a bit fairer to my players if I have to roll again for the CMB considering if an attack hits the character, its more than likely going to overcome thier CMD as well, so another roll to see if they're tripped / grabbed sounds good ).

Just wondering if the wording was removed or anyone knows the proper procedure.

It should be a reroll. You get the chance to stack a maneuver as a free action, so you need to make that maneuver check.
