It's too early to tell for sure, but this looks really underwhelming. The "director's artistic vision" of this film is exactly the kind of misinterpretation of the source material that Marvel Studios is trying to "rescue" their licensed-out intellectual properties from. This has all the canonical accuracy of Ang Lee's HULK written all over it, in my opinion.
But who knows? It might rock. Opinions?

My big problem with it is another origin story. Just start the movie with Peter already being Spider-Man, please.
This is one of the prime reasons I liked the Incredible Hulk. The backstory that everyone seeing this movie already knows was played out in the opening credits and the movie opens in media res. WAY better.
There have been at least 3 tv series and at least one movie about every important Marvel and DC character. We know how ALL OF THEM ORIGINATE even if we NEVER read a comic. Just jump into some damn action already. The ONLY movie I liked that incorporated the origin as the primary story was Iron Man. Of course, rarely is Iron Man's origin actually ever visited so that's more of an anomaly.

I had concerns after seeing the trailer (especially the fact that they're redoing the origin), but This Article gives me hope.

No one is going to see a Powerman movie. A Shazam movie maybe - but not after that Shaq farce and they can't name it Captain Marvel for the same reason it isn't called Captain Marvel on the cover.

I think a Luke Cage movie could be pretty good, and marketed properly could do pretty decent numbers. I'd actually be far more pleased to see a Luke Cage film than another Hulk, or the new Wolverine 5 that's coming out soonish.

I'd rather have a damn Speedball movie than more Wolverine guest=starring the X-Men.
Also, Isaiah Mustafa really wants to play Luke Cage apparently. And that guys an even bigger geek than Kevin Smith! (Kevin named his daughter after Harley Quinn, Isaiah named his daughter after a one-shot alternate universe version of Harley Quinn!)
An Iron Fist, Misty Knight, and Colleen Wing are fine too.
