After quite a slump in writing output, I'm back in stride. I've nearly completed the first draft of Dodeca Weather, a PDF that harnesses d12 power to determine your campaign's weather.

I'll be looking for playtesters soon. If you're interested, shoot an email to mark at spesmagna dot com.

Fixin' to start on the next round of edits before the PDF goes out to playtesters, the list of whom I'm in process of putting together. If you're interested in testing a system for expanded weather rules that remains compatible with the core, shoot me an email. The address is in the OP above.

I have a few finishing touches to put on the playtest PDF before it gets emailed to my growing list of playtesters. Excellent!

Dodeca Weather puts d12 power to work to randomly generate your campaign's weather. The GM-friendly, step-by-step process considers climate, altitude, terrain, and season to determine temperature, wind speed, and weather events. Weather characteristics include amount of precipitation, duration, wind speed, and the odds of a weather event continuing after its initial duration has expired. There are also about 6 pages of rules for different weather events, consolidating and expanding upon the core rules. Last of all, the PDF comes with a handy 7-day weather worksheet to help you organize your meteorological data.

Dodeca Weather is scheduled for released around the third Sunday in August.

Some playtester feedback has come in. Interested and insightful comments, a few of which confirmed some of my suspicions about the system. Excellent! :)

Perfect! I want to introduce weather as a challenge/obstacle in the early levels of Kingmaker. Plus the d12 needs some love...

Actually, that sort of brings up a critique I have with the system (Mark, I'll hopefully email you my playtesting impressions over the weekend); it's great for day-to-day weather, but for larger blocks of time - like how Kingmaker has time pass in weeks or months per turn - it's harder to generate results.

To be fair though, in most games that probably isn't a problem.

That is food for thought, though. I shall let my brain chew on it. :)

Playtesting for this book caused me buy some d24's while at Gen Con. ;-)

Mea culpa maxima. I did get your email. I had to had back to the classroom this week to get things ready for returning students plus doing the work I need to do get my son Giant Boy ready for high school. Busy, busy.

That aside, lots of good feedback, D_M. Thanks! :)

No problem just wanted to be sure.

Looking forward to this. Right now for my Kingmaker I print out the weather in month long blocks. Something that lets me do more on the fly will be nice.

I am too, but it's still a week or so away from being ready to release (at a minimum). My recent real-life drama has slowed me down so much with the writing.

That said, I'm not sure Dodeca-Weather will suit your Kingmaker needs. It's less an "on the fly" system as it is more detailed than PF's core weather rules.

If you'd to take a look at the pre-editing playtest version, shoot me an email: mark at spesmagna dot com.

At long last, Dodeca Weather is nearly complete! I've done another round of edits. I've added a short section about magical weather events, and outlined a short section about weather and skills. Once I'm done with this, I need to print a hard copy for a final proofread. I'm shooting for 31 May as the release date.

Oh man! I was just lamenting the fact that this wasn't out. Frabjous day!

Dodeca Weather has been uploaded to Paizo. Once it's processed, I'll get the purchase link posted. The PDF will sell for a mere $0.99.

I'm a little behind the curve on the metric measurements version of Dodeca Weather. I'd planned on having it available by the end of June, but it's look more like by the end of the first weekend in July.

When it's done, I'll update the files here and at DriveThruRPG. Everyone who's already purchased Dodeca Weather should get the update with the metric system PDF for free.

Well, here I am a bit more than a year after I posted the message above, and I'm finally sitting down to work on metric conversions for Dodeca Weather. Apparently, when I said "July", I meant July 2013. :)

Dodeca Weather has been updated to include Dodeca Weather Metric. If you've already purchased this PDF via DriveThruRPG or Paizo.com, I'm pretty sure you should get an e-mail about the update automatically. :)

Paizo.com notified me that the updated file is ready for download. :)
