Ultimate Magic: Huzzah Vermin Companion! Now what?

Rules Questions

yay now I can remake my giant mantis rider in PF.

Question 1: Animals (the creature type) have good Fort and Ref saves. Vermin only get good Fort. Does a vermin animal companion get good Reflex saves too?

Question 2: Nature Warden can be a neat prestige class for an animal companion user (maybe), but is there any way that a druid can get favored terrain?

Question 3: Not really a question, I guess. It looks like you'd have to wait until level 12 to combat ride a mindless wasp or mantis, but you could do it by level 6 if it had a Int of 1. So, I guess that answers in my head whether mindlessness is worth it or not. (This also means the critter can start picking up the Fly skill at that point).

My question: Can you use a Ride check to get a flying mount to do something with the Fly skill? Does the mount need the Fly skill, or is Ride enough? Who needs Fly, the rider, or the mount? Would this count as an extra Handle Animal trick?
