Building Bob the Builder

Advice

I was thinking about a wizard specializing in constuct and item creation, especially the constucts. So far, it isn't looking too promising.
I've been looking though my books, but I may be mising some good feats or traits or something.
Can anyone give me any tips or hints? I'm bringing this guy into a Kingmaker campagin at level 10, and my group is open to most content.

Ultimate Magic made such a concept more viable than ever, with an extensive section on crafting constructs. There are also the Arcane Builder and Golem Constructor arcane discoveries that could potentially have you churning out certain golems at a decent rate, with a high degree of customization.

For school, make him a Conjuration specialist with the Creation subschool.

For the item construction route, I strongly recommend taking the Hedge Magician trait. That 5% can add up to a lot of cash saves, especially if you want to become a magic mart.

Consider taking Leadership and getting yourself a cohort with the Cooperative Crafting feat. Making your cohort a Cleric is a decent idea, to widen your access to spells. The doubling of the daily GP limit combined with Arcane Builder would let you become a veritable assembly line of constructs.

For any serious crafter, Skill Focus (Spellcraft) is pretty much a must, and talk to your GM about letting you make a custom magic item to increase your Spellcraft checks further.

Isn't there a Pathfinder version of the Artificer?

Sort of. It's a third party class, the Artificer from Adamant Entertainment. It's decent, but I prefer to stick with core Paizo stuff. There's more support, and you won't need to talk your GM into anything for the most part.

Eridanus - Grittier Rules

^ These guys had a pretty good take on that character concept. They have two summoner archetypes, the puppet master (gets a construct-eidolon and has animate objects instead of summon monster) and the... uhhh don't remember the name of the second one, but they get a construct eidolon and summon monster is replaced with abilities that focus on repairing and creating constructs.

this should stack with the alternate trait "craftsman" in the APG, right?

it's a -5% on all crafting with metal or stone.
