When does the new season start?

I know -- probably a dumb question -- but I want to start a regular PFS game at my FLGS with the new season (I am running regular PF game now, but it isn't really "organized play"). So when does the new season start? I would like to be ready to jump on it, having contacted my venture captain and hyped it and all that so that on Day 1 I am ready to rock and roll.

Season 3 begins the day that the first Season 3 scenario is available to purchase, which I believe is the weekend of GenCon, which this year is the first weekend of August.

the three intro scenarios are available July 28th.

are these considered season three and can they be played before August 4th? will the guide be out before this time in order to make Season three PCs?

We are currently aiming to have the guide finalized by then, since we won't be in the office much the week prior to GenCon. With only 5 days between the release of the First Steps series and the start of the Year of the Ruby Phoenix, we don't anticipate a lot of people playing through the whole three part series before they can officially play a character in the new factions.

So Ropecon is one week before the start of Season 3. Good to know. I hope we get the guide before 29th July.
