Language-dependent spells?

Advice

So, after seeing the Gift of Tongues and Magical Linguist alternate racial traits for gnomes, I got myself an idea for a gnome sorcerer who focuses almost entirely on either glyph and/or language dependent spells. Alternately, it could be an Oracle of Lore.

The problem is, on at least a cursory examination of the wizard/sorcerer and cleric spell lists, there are surprisingly few spells with the Language Dependent descriptor.

The ones I was able to find:

0-level
Message

1st
Command
Forbid Action

2nd
none?

3rd:
Suggestion

4th:
Lesser Geas

5th
Geas/Quest
Greater Command
Greater Forbid Action

6th:
none?

7th
none?

8th
none?

9th
none?

That's it. Looking across two of the largest spell lists, for a grand total of 7 spells with the language-dependent descriptor? Am I missing something?

There are 17 that I'm aware of.

1. Brilliant inspiration
2. Castigate
3. Command
4. Confess
5. Denounce
6. Enthrall
7. Forbid Action
8. Geas/Quest
9. Greater command
10. Greater Forbid Action
11. Hidden speech
12. Lesser Geas
13. Mass Castigate
14. Mass Suggestion
15. Message
16. Speak with dead
17. Suggestion

Well, that's 10 more than I found, but it's still a rather small list, spread across a number of different classes. The ones that there are aren't too terrible, at least, but not enough to base an entire build off of :/

Oh well, thanks for that.

That's why you fill in the gaps with rune and symbol-type spells. There are plenty of those, ranging from arcane mark to greater explosive runes to symbol of death.

True, I see about 20ish spells with Rune, Glyph, or Symbol in their name. I guess by combining the two lists, the total number of spells approaches the total number of Illusion spells, which makes sense considering the racial trait it replaces.

Is hideous laughter LD cant ever rememebr.

No, though I'm pretty sure it used to be in 3.5. Neither is Irresistible Dance.

The dominate spells are not language-dependant but do offer additional benefits if you share a language or can otherwise communicate with the target.

The same goes for most charms. You can benefit much more from NPCs being friendly if you can communicate with them.

Yes, and with the racial trait, a gnome could have every single language by level 9. Sooner if he used traits, feats, or started with a high Intelligence.

The main point I was seeking specifically language-dependent spells is the +1 DC from the racial trait.

I was also interested in this question for a mesmerist build and surprised by some of what I found. Below is an expanded list of things in the "language-dependent" category for PFS, including material from above + that from newer sources:

Related Racial Traits:
Magical Linguist (Gnome) -- as in the original post

Related Traits:
Charming (Social), Commanding (Race/Human)

Related Spells, including those from RavingDork and Sunset above (33 total):
Brilliant Inspiration; Castigate (and Mass Castigate); Command (and Greater Command); Confess; Denounce; Enthrall; Forbid Action (and Greater Forbid Action); Geas/Quest (and Lesser Geas); Grave Words; Hidden Speech; Litany of Eloquence; Litany of Entanglement; Litany of Escape; Litany of Madness; Litany of Righteousness; Litany of Sloth; Litany of Thunder; Litany of Vengeance; Litany of Weakness; Message; Mindlocked Messenger; Peacemaker's Parley; Speak with Dead; Speak with Haunt; Suggestion (and Mass Suggestion, Triggered Suggestion); Unconscious Agenda; Vengeful Outrage;

Also...

Other spells that involve language-dependent effects, but no descriptor:
Mindlink, Muffle Sound, Subjective Reality, Truespeak, Zone of Silence

Skills:
Perform (of course)

Deities:
Winlas (Save Bonus)

Weapons:
Axe of the Imperative, Harp of Contagion

Finally, there are a number of classes/class abilities, domains (Legistlation & Tyranny) and prestige classes that make mention of language-dependent, particularly bard and bard archetypes, barbarian (can they actually talk? ^_^ ), cleric, skald, inquisitor, and sorcerer that are worth exploring...even high-level Lunar Oracle. Very interesting. Hope the extra info helps others who find this thread.
