Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I just finished reading 'Dungeons of Golarion'. don't want to be spoiler-y so I keep it lite...but DEAR GODS is Gallowspire evil!

without epic level rules of some sort in place, I wouldn't even think about running any sort of adventure that involved that tower. unless said adventure was set somewhere that you could maybe just barely see it in the distance.

Stop trying to make me buy the book...whew...passed my will save. With that out of the way, how much of it is mapped out?

they took a sort of 'top down' approach to all the chapters. there is a wide sketch and general map for each dungeon, but they leave the bulk of the details open to development by individual games. there are plenty of examples to follow in each chapter though. think of it as a sketchbook - the book gives you a general idea for the tone of each megadungeon and lets you fill out the rest to fit your game.

As for Gallowspire....

*shudder*

epic levels man. epic levels.

epic levels man. epic levels.

they also give a sample floor map of one level of each mega-dungeon

I can't wait to run my peeps through it.

I figure starting now, then running them through Carrion Crown should give me enough time to do it justice.

Hmmm... I wonder what/who could be there that would be a CR 24? :)

"and the party sees a vague, tower-shaped speck in the distance. DC25 will save or shaken...and you pee yourself. lol

Sure does.

If they get through CC as I expect, it should be a fairly "easy" transition to make.

I dunno dude. Gallowspire is hard core. just getting in the front door is horrific.

Very very true.

Of course, knowing my players, they'll figure some way to bypass the hard bits.

This will be after playing through all of CC, so it should be achievable, especially with the info & tools gathered up during the AP.

Should be fun, at least.

Sirs Hamster and Wraithstrike,

You two are giving aid bonuses to the Will DC I have to make to not by this puppy ... *twitch *drool *shudder*

There's a sidebar about how the denizens of the deeper parts are intentionally left vague because Pathfinder doesn't have rules for level 20+ at the moment.. so GMs are free to get creative there.

I concur that Gallowspire is not a tiptoe through the tulips. In fact, an entire 1/3 of Shadows of Gallowspire just involves getting to it, then trying to reach the top, from the outside. I'm still having nightmares. Can't wait for your players to have them, too. =-)

Based on my read, if Gallowspire just kills you (in some horrifically painful and humiliating manner) then you got off lucky. if you're really unlucky, you'll find a way past the first basement level and well...death is certain, eternal rest less so.

Liberty's Edge

Indeed, I am planning on using gallowspire as a way to let my carrion crown group keep going after the campaign and let them capstone out in their classes.

It sounds like others have this idea too so I certainly look forward to sharing ideas and seeing what everyone else comes up with once CC book 6 is out and we can start working on the actual connection.

'Tis quite the tome. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even on PDF with slightly offset art. The dead tree version is even better. :)

The Master has been imprisoned for time beyond mortal kenning! Do you truly believe that He would not try something as simple as Knock?

I really think the primary occupant will have very little issue with anyone getting in - he's not the one that sealed the place.

In fact, I suspect he'd be extremely pleased if someone disabled all those icky wards.

I am sure the final wards are an issue all their own, and that there is still some watchgroup(Palatine Eye) to make sure the final seals are not broken.

I am wondering what type of plot hook would involve trying to free "him who shall not be named:.
