The undead lord in UM gets a corpse companion at first level, but it says the companion can't have more than half the cleric's level in HD. Does this mean that the cleric has to wait until second level or does the HD get adjusted to be half an HD?

Minimum 1 hd?

Bestiary has the skeleton at 1 HD and zombie at 2 HD.

The corpse companion feature doesn't mention a minimum HD on the undead, nor any HD adjustment.

Silver Crusade

Minimum 1HD is what I'd roll with too.

As a quick aside, that class ability name makes me uncomfortable every time I see it.

Scarab Sages

Actually, it's a normal skeleton or zombie of HD up to your level. You can have a variant skeleton (burning, for example), but then it's limited in HD to half your level.

Edit: Correction about variant.

The hit dice of the basic skeleton / zombie companion can't exceed the Cleric's level. It's the specials that are half the Cleric level in hit dice iirc.

Ninja'd by six seconds...

OK, thanks. I see it now. I misread it.
