Using Skill Ranks for Combat Maneuvers

When talking with my GF, it came up that it was absurdly hard for a rogue who was specialized in theft (Sleight of Hand) to steal something. This is an idea of an optional rule to allow them to be able to do such somewhat better...any feedback would be appreciated. And I deliberately only did this with two skills that made the most sense to me.

When using the Steal combat maneuver, you may choose to use your ranks in Sleight of Hand in the place of your Base Attack Bonus for CMB. When using the Dirty Trick combat maneuver, you may choose to use your ranks in Acrobatics in the place of your Base Attack Bonus for CMB.

as a house rule this seems fine, just like a monk gets full BAB for the maneuvers he is supposed to do best, the rogue should aswell.

Just make certain you're perfectly clear with your players that you mean ranks--equivalent to a full BAB if you've got full ranks for the level--and not the skill bonus, which could be ludicrously high.

I had a totally different idea from the thread title! Thanks!

I'm gonna chew on it for a while.

We have a feat called santo slam it allows you to ad half your acrobatics checks to grapple checks as long as your feet are in the air when you tackle.

1. Santo slam: if you make a successful acrobatics check prior to a grapple you can add half your acrobatics ranks rounded down to your proceeding grapple check, provided when the grapple takes place your feet are not on solid ground(i.e. flying through the air)
Prerequisites: improved grapple, skill focus (acrobatics)

Oh, I totally agree. To be honest, I'm trying to decide between Acrobatics and Bluff for Dirty Trick though...both seem to fit. Heck, Sleight of Hand could work too. And yeah, I just...I think it makes sense to let a character get a slight advantage that makes the CM slightly more possible when they've had similar training. *shrugs*

Dirty trick can be a number of things. I'd say which skill it relies on depends on the environment and trick.
