While I sort of imagine the Palladium rules-set would be a nightmare to run for PBP (for a start they use alternating attacks, and everyone has something like five or six of them at level one... which suggests really slow PBP combats...) I'm still kinda' interested in this one. Which rules-set is being proposed anyway - original or 'ultimate edition'?

That's a good point.. To dig into the logistics of the functioning, there'd need to be a default setup for attacks-- "if-then"-- statements, or reliance on GM adjudication to make the fights run clean enough to not kill the pbp at the first fight.
I suspect most, if not all of us would play for the character experience, not to win the damage leaderboards, but I could just be projecting..
Hrm.

I think the if then statements will be ok such as "I attack juicer X but if I kill him I will move on to attack Juicer Y" and so on. Just my 2 credits worth.

Ah... come to think of it, it's Rifts anyway - 'full round burst with a particle beam cannon then slap in a new E-clip' is pretty much standard for all combat anyway, right? ;)
(Although I think a lot of the 'full round burst' action got stealth-nerfed later on IIRC: I don't think the ultimate edition rules quite let you do that, but it's been a while since I read 'em.)
Of course the other horrible thing about the Palladium rules-set - i.e. the fact that most characters pretty much get everything they'll ever get at level one, then it's just adding +5% to all your skills each level until you max out at 98% - will probably work better with PBP (where leveling-up takes about 6 months a pop...)! ;)
So... any decisions as to campaign setting and type yet? Coalition, anti-Coalition, Federation of Magic, Atlantis, Japan, Russia, England, NGR, Australia, South America, Africa, underseas, Phase World... there's a lot to choose from.

I think I'm going to bow out of running a Rifts game. I've looked long and hard and just don't think I can find the time to pull something together and run it. However I would still be interested in playing as a player.
On a brighter note, since looking through my Palladium stuff, I think I may go with running a Paladium Fantasy game. I will be posting a thread soon....
