I'm attaching the Fiendish simple template to a Dire Bat for Summon Monster III spell I'm going to use in the next game. As you can see the bat has a Charisma score of 6/-2, so do I actually get an attack penalty for smiting? [http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/advanced/coreClasses/paladin.html#smite-good]Smite Good with Antipaladin[/url] is written so that a "bonus (if any)" is added, but i the template there's nothing like that. Is this some weaker variant of smite, or it will spare me the penalty?
(The bat would be nasty even without it, becuse Justice Ironbriar (also converted a bit for my purposes) will augment the bat with deeper darkness during the fight in the saw-mill, but I'd still like to know for future)

Guessing its a weaker version of smite since it doesn't include the deflection bonus to AC. Glancing at some other posts seems that the (if any) should be part of the description.
So your bat can flap around in the darkness and choose a smite target with only bonus damage. Hope the PCs scream a lot to blind it. :)

No, there is no penalty for smiting. You just don't get a bonus to your attack roles. It uses the same smite as the paladin.

Greetings, fellow travellers.
The negative bonus is not applied for figuring out its attack bonus, the damage bonus from HD still apply (my only evidence though, is the summon monster I entries, e. g. dog and the templates found in PFSRD: Fiendish; note where it says the creature adds its Charisma bonus (if any)).
At higher levels the bonus to damage becomes quite significant, althoug the DR-piercing bonus from a paladin's smite is not granted.
Ruyan.
[EDIT]sigh, following one link after another and getting lost in the PFSRD grants you a double ninja

Heh, thanks... I continued with the conversions for my purposes and it seems that my group will indeed scream a lot. Not in this encounter probably, but st the base of the clock. I've made an advanced golem for them, but I thought that power attack for +14/+9 (2d6+20/x4) with that monstrous scythe... was too much, so it will be only a flesh golem w/o the template. We have a group of 6, but they aren't too optimised, so they'll be dropping bricks anyway ^^
I think we can end this :)
