Ranged Trip Fighter / Hellknight Planned PFS Character

Advice

The Exchange

Okay i have been trying to create this character for a when i get it finished, i find something wrong; then i take it apart and start from scratch and i am driving my self nuts, so i will put it out here and I am looking for some input it stands like this at the moment

Human not sure male or female yet

Str: 18 Int: 14
Dex: 14 Wis: 7
Con: 12 Cha: 12

the plan is for Fighter 5 then heading down the Hellknight PrC till the 12 cap with the extra points for the stats to be sunk into wisdom

Traits
Defender of the Society
Sargavan Guard

The plan is for him to wear the Hellknight plate and i wanted to get a leg up on the Ac and ACP problem early, i am also planning to make him a order of the godclaw and take the pentatamic faith discpline and go for the travel domain to get the extra 10ft movement

Feats
H. Combat Expertise
1. Improved Trip
F1.Exotic Weapon: Fauchard
F2.Fury's Fall
3. Power Attack
F4. Intimidating presence
5. Weapon Focus: Fauchard
7. Greater Trip
9.Tripping Strike
11. Unsure

The Fauchard is to be the major weapon, i did consider Heirloom Weapon and Ancestral Weapon to get the use of it but the traits i selected above looked too good, the intent is also to maximise the trip chances, damage output and Intimidate aspect

any help ideas suggested and such greatly appreciated

Don't gimp your Wisdom that hard, and don't pump your level points into wis. From a points perspective, it's better to start with a lower Strength and spend those extra points in other stats. As it sits now, you're just asking to be charmed/feared/dominated, and your hit points aren't superb. You don't need a 14 Int, a 13 would suffice for the prereqs. Intimidating Prowess is pointless unless you also take either Cornugon Smash or the Dazzling Display chain to do anything with the higher Intimidate.

The tricky part about this build is it's very MAD. I'm highly annoyed that the 13 int requirement for Combat Expertise didn't get removed in the transition from 3.x. I've got a character going for a similar build, but even with a 30 point buy it was tricky.

I have a Combat Expertise PFS fighter at the moment. Here are his stats (he's currently level 2).

STR 18
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 13
WIS 12
CHA 9

(@sunset - that's with a 20 point buy, so I'm not sure what your problem was)

I don't know anything about the Hellknight PrC (I assume that's why you needed the CHA?), but as you can see with my build, you can get decent fighter stats without dumping anything to a 7, and like Sunset said, a 7 WIS on a fighter is extremely dangerous. Even with my 12 WIS, I'm planning on taking Iron Will at level 3.

What you could do is take my array and just switch WIS and CHA, or you could take my array, drop a point of STR (giving you 3 more points) to put CHA at 12. You'd then have this:

STR 17
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 13
WIS 12
CHA 12

At level 4 you bump STR to 18, and your other two level bumps might be STR or CON, depending on what you want.

A base Charisma of 10 or 12 would be sufficient for a Hellknight, since by the time you get access to the abilities that utilize Charisma, you'll be able to manage a headband (and really, there isn't much else for the head slot for fighters that's worth it). Having at least a 12 Wisdom and picking up Iron Will should be sufficient, as by the time you start really running into enemies with Save or Suck spells, you'll have some of the Hellknight resistances.

Thanks Jiggy, you solved my stat spread issue this will work excellently, without as Sunset put it gimping myself, half the reason i was thinking a wisdom of seven to beginning with was to give my character some depth, be intelligent but not wise, but the array above works better, thanks guys, any thoughts on if i ditch intimidating presence what to replace it with or other feast you might suggest

Intimidating Prowess certainly fits the Hellknight flavor, but mechanically doesn't do much without Dazzling Display or Cornugon Smash, both of which synergize quite well with the Fearsome ability available to all orders, allowing you to potentially render an enemy frightened with every hit. But without having all the excess feats of a straight fighter build and the feat investment required for a trip build, I'd recommend dropping it and picking up Combat Reflexes to maximize your AoOs, an important part of a reach fighter build.
